You may have your PVC but if you are not at the location you registered, you may end up not voting come 2019 election after all the noise about getting your PVC ready.

This is a guide to help you transfer/migrate your PVC from your old polling unit to the one closest to you in your new locality.

Start making the move now because it takes 60 days for a successful migration to take place. Don't procrastinate please. no time.

GUIDE FOR TRANSFER OF REGISTERED VOTERS

INTRODUCTION:

Every Nigerian has the right to live in any part of the country. An important part of voter registration is that an eligible person is advised to register at the centre nearest to his or her residence. This is to make it easy for the voter to access the polling unit and vote on Election Day.

Eligibility for Transfer:

A person who has relocated to another place, outside the unit in which he/she registered cannot vote in his/her new location unless he/she transfers his/her registration.

Procedure for Transfer:

Step 1:

The person who intends to transfer his/her registration will apply to INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner of the state where he/she is currently residing through his/her Electoral Officer (EO).

Note:

The application should contain the current address and phone number of the applicant as these will assist in allocating the polling unit nearest to him/her as well as for contact purposes respectively.

Step 2:

The applicant shall attach a photocopy of his/her Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) to the application and submit at the nearest registration centre nearest to him/her.

NOTE:

The applicant must apply to the Resident Electoral Commissioner in good time, well before 60 days to the election. No transfer can be entertained or granted less than 60 days to election.

Step 3:

If satisfied that the applicant is currently resident in the area, the Resident Electoral Commissioner shall approve the application and direct that the applicant’s details be transferred to his/her new location.

Note:

The Commission may require evidence such as Utility Bill for confirmation of your residency.

Step 4:

The applicant will be assigned to the nearest polling unit to his/her new residences.

Note:

The applicant’s registration and particulars will then be deleted from the register of voters in the previous location

Step 5:

The applicant would be issued with a new Permanent Voter’s Card at the registration centre where he/she submitted his/her application or at any other designated centre by the Commission and the previous one will be retrieved.

Note:

When the PVCs are ready, the Commission will make a public announcement to that effect for collection. The applicant should pick up the new PVC in person as collection by proxy is not allowed.

Hello everyone, I'll advise that you halt your transfer of PVC plan until this idiot called BUHARI has been voted out in 2019.

It seems INEC understands that the growing awareness to register or transfer PVC in southern Nigeria and the middle belt, is against Buhari's interest. I've applied for my transfer since last September and am yet to get it up till now.

The process is very slow and seems discouraging. I'll rather appeal to people in this category that we pay the sacrifice of going back to our former polling booth, even if you have to travel 2 days before.

Sending Buhari back to Daura is not too much of s sacrifice for us. The nation can't survive another four years of his presidency. Our children and grandchildren will either thank us or do otherwise, going by our collective action next February.

Thank you and God bless Nigeria.

One but the greatest of our problems. The problem is that the government are not visionary. The give in to scammers who suggests anything that captivates not knowing the people are feeding from their ignorance. Like MasterCard branded ATM/ID CARD.such a waste of money. Goodluck failed there.

Why do they have to print yet another PVC in step 5 when all they need do is move the applicant's voting details to the new polling unit? smh.

Your. PVC has the number tag of your polling unit. You would need a new PVC with the number tag of your new polling unit. It is for manual accreditation and avoiding confusion on names not reflecting on the accreditation list.

Thank you very much sir/ma for the clarification. But come to think of it, don't you think there should be a better way to handle this since as humans, people more often than not tend to move? This is to avoid unnecessary waste of money.

There's a better and easy way. The problem is that Nigerian Government so much focus on revenue which has led to different agencies defrauding the government to generate revenue for them.

You have to go to get national ID card from National Population Commission, Certificate of Origin from your Local Government, Birthday Certificate from Primary Health Center, Drives licence from FRSC, Voter Card from INEC and so on. And all these cards/certificate contains almost the same information.

The worst of it is that these agencies depends on foreigners to provide platform for these cards.

This is Nigeria. Until we have a vision that is not built by political promises, we might still not get it right.

The way Forward for me is to break free from this false capitalist state we think we are in and start building infrastructures of national interest.
