Dr Kayode Fayemi, candidate of the All Progressives Congress,in the Ekiti governorship election, is coasting home to victory, according to the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission in majority of the 16 local councils in the state.


Fayemi, who was governor of the state between 2010 and 2014, has won no fewer than 13 of the 16 councils, including the council of incumbent Ayodele Fayose.

In what appeared to be poetic justice, Fayemi won in Irepodun-Ifelodun council, the home base of Fayose.

Fayemi polled 13,869 votes. The PDP candidate, Olusola Eleka, Fayose’s deputy got 11,456 votes.

In the 2014 election, massively rigged by Fayose’s PDP, Fayemi lost all the Ekiti councils to Fayose.

This time around, Fayemi only lost in Fayose’s polling unit and ward.

Fayemi has won and that one is settled.

The least of Fayose's problems should not be about Eleka's losing. He should be worried about his freedom after he hands over to the Fayemi led Government in Ekiti. As something tells me Fayose will become the first former Governor in Nigeria that will be given the maximum sentence for corruption, and he will serve the jail term complete.

To compound his problems. Like Atiku, the United States and most Western Countries withdrew/cancelled his Visa's based on allegations of corruption against him. So where does he run to? unless he run's to some Africa countries to seek asylum, it will be interesting knowing the whereabouts of Fayose after he hands over to Fayemi(if he sticks around to do that)

I will miss Fayose and his Alapere style of Politics. But Politics is too much of a serious thing to be left in the hands of a Palm-Wine Drinker like Ayo Fayose.
