The Nigerian army has denied media report that Boko Haram insurgents killed its officers and carted military vehicles in Bama Local Government Area of Borno state.

In a tweet on its official twitter handle @HQNigerianArmy it wrote that ''The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to news making the round alleging attack on soldiers and capturing of military vehicles by Boko Haram in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State''.

Okay.

The usual trend:

- Boko decimates a weak and corrupt Nigerian Army

- Presidency meets with Army and orders a blackout

- Three days later, Army receives go ahead from Presidency to deny the attack

- Boko releases a video to Reuters/AFP showing the attack, the dead and captured armoury

- Army confirms presviously denied attack and claims that their forces reposnded with superior fire forcing the Boko to retreat. Army also claims that mop up operations are ongoing to clean up remnants

- Relatives of slain soldiers are given 100k and sacked from the barracks with a promise that full benefits will be paid in 15 days
