Nigeria was well reperesented at the recently concluded High-Level Political Forum on the SDGs which held in New York between 9th July to 19th July 2018.

Nigeria’s delegates was led by the Senior Special Adviser to The President on the SDGs, Her Excellency Orelope Adefulere.

The HPLF 2018 is the United Nation’s central platform for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals, provides for the full and effective participation of all States Members of the United Nations and States members of specialized agencies.

The Nigerian Delegation was busy with plenty of well attended side events showcasing Nigeria’s gallant strides towards achieving the SDGs.

One of many side events was the report on the Transformation Towards Sustainable & Resilient Societies: Implementation of SDG 11 held in conjunction with Unicef. it was graced by The UN Deputy Secetary-General Amina Mohammed, the Special Adviser to the Honourable Minister of Power, Works and Housing as well as the Chairman of Larfage Africa Tonye Cole.

Her Excllency Orelope Adefulere in presenting Nigeria’s acomplishment summised that “the inclusion of IDPs is key in SDGs realization. The UNDP has guided Govt in Mainstreaming, Acceleration, Policy Support (MAPS) to support SDG implementation at National & Sub National level to engage National Planning, Budgeting & costing to help curb protracted Internal Displacement”

Her Excellency also had a high level meeting with the Executive Director of The UN Habittat Maimuna Shariff where she discussed Nigeria’s stride towards achieving the New Urban Agenda, the agenda 2030 among others.
