The Students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK, Awka, today, took to the streets to protest the death of their colleague, a final year student of Microbiology, Francis Mmadubuobi who died at the school's clinic moments after he slumped watching a Basketball game. 

There has been speculations that Francis, who was about to write his final paper died due to the nonchalance and incompetence of the workers at the schools medical center. Reports from various sources reveal that there was no doctor at the clinic as at the time the late student was rushed to the centre. 

Meanwhile, the school management, in a statement released Monday morning, refuted the above claims saying the late Francis died before he even arrived the clinic.

UNIZIK Students engage in a protest over the death of a Final Year MCB student, Francis Chinedu Mmadubuobi; who died in the Medical Center due to alleged incompetence of the medical team and unavailability of a Doctor.

Reports reaching us has it that the school authorities prevented the demonstrating students from entering the school gates as they planned to take the protests to the administrative building.

However, the protesters made their way to the premises of Anambra State Broadcasting Corporation, ABS.

The initial news mentioned that he died while playing BB but this news mentioned he died while watching. Anyway RIP. But why are they protesting? Was there any physical attack by the authority? That guy is just too cute to die so early.

We blame the Federal govt for their own lapses.. How about maintainance n equipping of essential centres within a university.... Only to collect money, money money.

The school will always deny and sweep the issue away...young men and women always keep fit and exercise at least 2 times a week...fatness is not a sign of enjoyment even if you are slim still exercise heart attack is real and obesity

Even the best public universities in the Country Students don't have health insurance

Knowing Unizik very well, I can tell you that the school authorities will use these pictures to fish out students they will victimise. And if they destroyed any property in the course of the protest, they will force the entire student body to pay for it. I really saw hell in that school. I don't even wan to talk about the anti cult. Those ones are just garbage in, garbage out zombies

SMH. The death of anyone is a sad event and it's ok to express grieviances but it's not cool for the buck to always stop at the health care team.
Dude prolly suffered pulmonary embolism or some other heart-lung condition which in itself has a rapid mortality if not quickly reversed. Even in the best of our teaching hospitals, the death rate is quite high let alone a school clinic.
More pressure should be put on govt to revamp the health sector and the public need to be enlightened on what to do in such eventualities (that's not the time to pour him water and shake him vigorously)

Don't also forget to ask them if their arsonist act brought back the dead. And also ask them how many months such thoughtless act took away from their academic year and how much they coughed up in payment for damages.

I am happy Unizik students are getting awakened to stand for their rights. Though the circumstances is not comfortable with me.

RIP to the dead though, but those guys at the clinic could be annoying sometimes
Anyways, we stayed at home 4 2months and paid a restitution fee of 5k
Finally, the message was passed and there was overhauling of the staffs at the clinic
