BEFORE YOU HATE NIGERIANS OR SPEAK AGAINST NIGERIANS...

Before you hate Nigeria and Nigerians for the actions of a few criminal elements who also abound in your country, please ask yourself if your nation has been as useful to this continent as #Nigeria.

There’s so much hate towards Nigerians due to misinformation and generalization. No nation in the world has helped African countries more than Nigeria. It is the only country that has for the past 30 years sent about 2000 volunteers yearly called TAC (Technical Aid Corps) to almost all countries to aid their development. #YouNeedToRespectNigeria

The war in Liberia and Sierra Leone cost Nigeria over 10 billion dollars with the deployment of over 15,000 troops and aid workers. At the end of the war, #Nigeria was still the largest African Donor to AID the reconstruction of both countries. #YouNeedToRespectNigeria

Nigeria has deployed more nurses, medical doctors, pharmacists and laboratory technicians to other African nations like Liberia, Sierra Leone, Burundi, Rwanda, Gambia, Uganda, South Africa... more than any western nation! #YouNeedToRespectNigeria

In 2006, 40 medical staff were sent to Kampala Teaching Hospital. In 2009, #Nigeria spent over $70 million to send 132 highly -qualified professionals to Sierra Leone on the request of former president Ernest Bai Koroma. In 2014 , 34 artisans were sent to volunteer in Namibia. #YouNeedToRespectNigeria

During the apartheid era in South Africa, Nigeria was one of the foremost supporters of anti-apartheid movements... massively supporting the African National Congress; the Nigerian government issued more than 300 passports to South Africans seeking to travel abroad.

Nigeria was the first country to provide direct financial aid to South Africa’s ruling African National Congress from the 1960s, while in the 1970s, Nigeria supported the ANC and the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) with an ANNUAL subvention of $5 million to help them in the struggle. Nigeria did set up a programme to cater specifically for the educational needs and general welfare of South Africa through the Southern Africa Relief Fund (SAFR) to which then-president General Olusegun Obasanjo contributed $3.7 million. Obasanjo made a personal donation of $3 000, while every member of his cabinet made donations of $1 500 each to the South African cause. #YouNeedToRespectNigeria

Sonny Okosun, a Nigerian musician, wrote the hit song "Fire in Soweto" in 1977 to commemorate the 1976 Soweto uprising against apartheid in South Africa.

Nigeria is the most pan-African state on this continent. History lessons needs to revived in our African schools, it will do a lot of good. #YouNeedToRespectNigeria

Once again, before you hate #Nigeria for the actions of a few criminals who also abound in your country, ask yourself if your nation has been as useful to this continent as #Nigeria...

Nigerians are very tolerant people too. We are never hostile, condescending, abusive or unaccomodating to foreigners who live amongst us. We are too busy hustling to notice them, unlike many other countries whose citizens are too busy noticing Nigerians in their midst that they fail to ‘hustle’.

This is just to educate YOU a little about Nigeria and Nigerians, maybe it will help you drop your prejudice and the negative perception you hold so dear like a cherished inheritance.

Regardless of anything and everything, #Nigerians are an amazing people and a blessing anywhere we find ourselves. Of course we have ‘bad eggs’ amongst us, just like your country!

Just so you know, criminality and moral bankruptcy is not a national culture, neither is it a national decision, but it is a product of individual choices. It is immoral, depraved and devious to castigate or wrongly label the generality because of the wrong choices of a few. Indeed, generalization is the lowest form of knowledge!
