Lawal Yahaya Gumau has emerged as the All Progressives Congress ( APC) flag bearer for the forthcoming Bauchi South Senatorial district bye-election.
He emerged as the party's candidate after the primaries conducted by the party onWednesday night at the Multipurpose Indoor Sports hall in Bauchi.
The candidate, who is currently the member representing Toro federal constituency in the House of Representatives got 847 votes against 776 votes obtained by Dr Danjuma Adamu Dabo who came second.
Five other aspirants who participated in the APC primaries include; Dr Safiya I. Muhammad who came third with 519 votes, Ahmad Shu'aibu got Eight votes,Muhammad Hassan Tilde,Three votes while Kabir Tahir got One vote.
However, one of the aspirants, Aminu Tukur, the member representing Lere / Bula constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly got zero vote after his withdrawal from the contest in protest.
He later defected from the APC but did not disclose the party he is moving to.
Similarly, Barrister Hussaini Umar has also clinched the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) as it's candidate in the bye-election slated by Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) for August 11th, 2018.
Barrister Hussaini was the only aspirant who indicated his interest to vie for the seat in the party.
Speaking after the announcement of the results, chairman of election committee sent by the national headquarters of the party, Edo State deputy governor, Phillip Shu'aibu disclosed that the election has been conducted keenly in a transparent manner.
Isa ladan has on the other emerged pdp's candidate after winning the pdp primaries.
For the obudu state constituency seat,abbey ukpukpen has emerged as the pdp's flagbearer.shes the wife of the late lawmaker.mr ada ishamali has emerged as the candidate of the apc for the bye-poll.we are still awaiting results of the primaries for the katsina north senate seat
