NASS Denying INEC Funding For 2019 Election Is A Treasonable Offence – Sagay by nairavsdollars(f): 3:01pm On Jul 30, 2018
Prof. Itse Sagay, Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) on Monday said the attempt by the National Assembly to starve the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of funds to prosecute the 2019 general elections constitutes high treason.
Sagay in a statement made available to DAILY INDEPENDENT in his private capacity as an informed Nigerian and lawyer said from what is happening in the country, it is clear that Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and his cohorts are afraid of the 2019 and are doing everything to frustrate it.
He said: “ Whether the National Assembly likes it or not, the elections will be held. We know that Saraki and his cohorts are afraid of elect
“And if they refuse to carry out their compulsory and binding duties under the constitution, there are simple solutions to that unconstitutional behaviour.
“Therefore, I state categorically that whether the national assembly likes it or not, the elections will be funded and it will be held on time regardless of their attitude to it.
“Ultimately, the very existence of Nigerian democracy depends absolutely on regular elections. So, the imperative of regular elections is non-debatable.
“If the National Assembly foolishly attempts to stall the 2019 elections by denying INEC the needed funding for the elections, that misconduct will constitute high treason.”
“They will render themselves totally irrelevant and the elections will go on as an inexorable constitutional command,” he said.

Itse sagay is a hungry professor. I wonder how they make some miscreants professors nowadays.
A professor whose conscience is a readily available in the market, is that one a professor.

The way APC is going about this election funding shows that the money is not really meant for Inec & security alone during election.
Maybe greater part of the money is going to serve some hidden agenda for them tht we are yet to uncover .

And what is more reasonable than;
-1).A president watching the citizens & the Nigerian military being killed with utter impunity by his killed fulani brothers while his government kept conjuring conflicting reasons to justify their actions despite they've accepted responsibility?
-2).A government tolerating corruption by its own official/appointees by shielding them but see others as guilty in a selective antigraft war?
-3).The reign of utter impunity that have descended on the Nigerian nation by the government of the day & it's agencies?
-4).A government laying siege to the leadership of the NASS because it have refused to be its rubberstamp?

Sagay can pretend nothing is amiss but he will find himself to blame when the chips down.

I believe that the NASS have some credible reasons as to why they have refused to grant the wishes of INEC.

why has the NASS refused to release funds to INEC?
They have more Intel than you could ever grasp.
Those figures being paraded by INEC is at best obnoxious.
Mind you, it is the constitutional duty of the nass to channel the resources of this country to good and efficient use.

INEC has a duty to prove beyond reasonable doubt that those monies if approved would be used to strengthen Nigeria's democracy, until the needful is done, NASS has the legitimacy to withhold such monies from INEC.

Charge and chant all you want, INEC has a duty to relate to the custodians of Nigeria's wealth how any kobo released to them would be spent to the satisfaction of the NASS.
