Defections: Makarfi Interested In Balancing Interests Of Returnees And Party Faithful  -Capt. Johnson

The attention of Sen Ahmed Makarfi has been drawn to reports making the rounds in the media in which the former Caretaker Committee Chairman’s speech in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, yesterday, 3rd August 2018, was manipulated, twisted, completely altered and taken out of context.

Sen Ahmed Makarfi wants to make it abundantly clear for the records that at no time in his speech in Lokoja or anywhere for that matter, did he use the phrase UNDUE ADVANTAGE or mentioned anyone’s name in his speech.

The former Chairman of our great party has always been a bridge builder and had fought hard and long battles to save the soul of the party to keep it together.

As a visionary leader, he had also expected the defections based on the foundation he has laid and the great work the current national working committee is doing. It is therefore surprising to the former chairman, when such a divisive phrase as UNDUE ADVANTAGE  and people’s names were maliciously inserted into his speech without his knowledge and consent.

The former chairman in fact had issued a press statement a day earlier in which he expressed his joy and happiness on the news of the return to our great party of his former  party members. In the press release he expressed his warm welcome to all of them and extended a hand of friendship and cooperation to work together with them to save our hard won democracy and save our country from impending collapse.

In the former chairman’s speech, he only emphasized the challenging task of the NWC in balancing the interests of both the returnees and other party members to ensure the party remains united to confront our common enemy, the All Progressive Congress.
