All this just makes things more and more difficult for the next coach.
Blanc comes in and being an inexperienced coach will think the easiest way to deal with the mafia is to use force. . . this will lead to a reaction from them and it gets bigger.

The behaviour of these rags to riches French players is irritating. . . remember they almost destroyed Arsenal too.

i think Blanc would have no choice but to get rid of all the old ones (Henry, Gallas, Ribery, Cisse, Govou etc) and let the new generation (Toulalan, Gourcuff, Gignac, Valebuena)  start afresh.
will be difficult for the French team at first but if the gangrene is not completely removed, nothing in the future can be positive. . . . . . . . . . . . . and i doubt it can get worse than this, football wise.
you are right that the French supporters are the one suffering the most from this, especially when there is so much potential in the team!

marutimon:

Anyone else think that this infighting may actually give South Africa a shot at winning big? It looks like France are practically throwing the game.

you're right but it could also be the "shake" needed to wake them up, although a little too late!

I have said it repeatedly, football has been ruined by excessive commercialism.there is more money in the game than sense.
real fans have been marginalised from the game and mercenaries have taken over.

This is just a xenophobic display of moral panic. . . what does money have to do with this??
Yeah, the players are rich but is that what made the coach unable to control them??

They are unprofessional not because they are rich, but because of the coach . . . Evra cannot try that with Ferguson, Wenger eliminated the mafia one after the other at Arsenal.

That will be using extreme force and will backfire if he doesn't win.
When Zidane, Henry and Ribery combined to take France to the final of the last World Cup, everyone forgot about how stupid Domenech was.
The key is winning . . . you don't need a unified team to win, you just need them to be professional.

And besides. . . suspending Evra, Ribery and Gallas will effectively waste a generation of French football.

This is really a pity. At the end of the day, they can't all be the boss. If they want to strike, they can do so and head home on the next flight; what's the point of wasting valuable practice time because your team mate blew a fuse? Of all places to act like this, they choose the moment when things are really down to the wire for them.

In all fairness, I'm trying to see where the French coach is at fault for what happened to Anelka and the subsequent fall out.

you are right about the coach not doing his job properly but now that the gangrene has already set in, there needs to be drastic changes. the Fact that some player do not want to play as a team with Gourcuff shows where lay some of the problem. as much as people may not like him, he is the future of France football and these old "has been" cant be dictating the way to go.
there is tons of talent in France that dont play because of the lack of experience at international level and also because of these "has been" taking all the space.

now that the bubble has burst, we need to look at the future and nurture THESE young ones and drop the "mafiosos" who made France football the laughing stock of the world. yes, it will take time but the earlier we start, the faster we will get over this craziness and see the kind of football that we all know we can play.

we can only win as a team and so far we havent got one, we've got groups of individuals that bring their dirty laundry within the supposed team and divides it!

dude, that phrase does not apply.
i would be glad if you could explain how it fits within this context?
What is xenophobic in my comment?
the fact that they cannot do it with Fergie, Wenger or Ancelotti reinforces my point.
they know where their bread is buttered. If you can act in such unprofessional manner like Anelka did and the rest of the squad did, then you are not truly proferssional.
Some of us have worse bosses than Domench and besides they only have to put up with the clown for just a few more weeks (being optimistic).
btw, the leadership of FFF should resign immediately the match on teusday ends (assuming they fail to qualify).
even NFF is not this inept.

Evra has disgraced himself in this whole process and no club manager will ever give him captaincy after this.

Ribery, Henry, Anelka, Gallas and Evra must all be swept away from the French team, much like Ginola and Cantona were swept away after the debacle of 1993.

Govou and Abidal can join them on account of them being wastepipes.

Malouda may yet be indispensible, but he may also be held to account.

The loss of Evra is not irreparable as Aly Cissokho and Clichy can easily fill in.

Mamahdou Sakho would easily replace Abidal.

The only people who do not have like-for-like replacements are Ribery and Malouda.

i wonder why he is yet to show that indispensability in recent games.
he has been the biggest disappointment on the pitch.
in my view non of them is indispensable.
one thing is certain, Blanc has taken a poisoned chalice.
i hope these brats do not ruin his stellar managerial career in the making.

woah how did you remember that one?! yeah, Cantona too insulted the coach (called him a bag of sh*it on tv) after he wasnt selected for a qualifier for Italia90 and ended up being blacklisted from the French squad for a few months. then the same shit happen during the qualifiers for Usa 94. as good as Cantona was, he never played in a World Cup.

Ginola has never been a full part of any French squad only (17 caps) at a time when he was top because it was his "fault" that we lost the ultimate qualifier for USA94 against Bulgaria. he had to move to England after that fiasco and finished his football career there!

everyone knows that Anelka is like a pitbull. that same Anelka had sworn never ever to play for the French team in 2002 unless the coach came and kneel in front of him and beg. . . . . . . . .  and then he would consider it.
we all thought that this WC was going to show what we were missing in the 3 previous WC that he missed, helas. . . . . . .

Re: French Team Refuses To Train by landtraza(m): 8:07am On Jun 21, 2010
domenech have enjoy his great time, but i think he is looking for an backside to screw cause he have mess the whole team up. what happen to NASIRI, and why is captain band strip from HENRY, and why is HENRY not playing after qualifying them with his magic hand. cause THEIRY HENRY,S CORPS is better than NICOLAS ANELKA as a national team player. it is interesting to know that we are better than them at list we have a goal, and if we beat the coreans, ahead we go cheesy

The coach is under renewed pressure much unlike that of the qualifiers and its really getting to him. Now that Anelka is gone all he needs is Henry to come and palm the innocent ball into the net!

It is evident that there is a clique in the French national team.Domenech never should have bypassed Gallas to give Evra the captainship. We all know what Gallas can do when he feels upset about a decision that doesn't go his way.

WHEN THE FOOLISH COACH DECIDED TO LEAVE BENZEMA AND NASRI OUT OF THE FRENCH SQUAD, I KNEW HE WAS HEADING FOR TROUBLE. FOR CHRIST SAKE, BENZEMA PLIES HIS TRADE WITH MADRID (THOUGH HE WASNT A REGULAR) AND WOULD HAVE ADDED SOME BITE UPFRONT. EVEN NIGERIA WENT TO THE WORLD CUP WITH A DANNY SHITTU THAT DID NOT SEE 90 MINS IN A SEASON.
AND WHAT OF NASRI? A FANTASTIC YOUNG LAD WHO PLAYED THE POSITION OF CESC FABREGAS WHEN THE SPANIARD WAS INJURED. I STILL CANNOT FORGET NASRI'S GOAL AGAINST FC PORTO IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.
Re: French Team Refuses To Train by Seekers(m): 11:08am On Jun 21, 2010

Re: French Team Refuses To Train by mbulela: 11:17am On Jun 21, 2010
Everyday, 'les Bleus' push back the frontiers of the unacceptable , This band of spoilt children, left free to do what they like by their entire hierarchy, has no limit, no sense of duty so close to the match against South Africa. To have the worst soccer team at the World Cup was already unbearable. To also have the most stupid is intolerable , The mutiny at Knysna will forever remain the Waterloo of French soccer."

well on his day ben arfa is as good a winger as ribery and nasri while not being too similar to malouda is just as good or better from a similar position, there is also jeremy menez playing at roma, highly gifted lad. french football is teeming with young blood

I saw the bird, the grey-white Quail
aloft the Algerian goal
quiet and undistrubed
It had the best view for the whole 90
making its nest in so much tranquil
knowing the bereft men in white
wouldn't hit a barn door from 2 yards
Piss poor English like the French
Ego bags dufus in blue and white
soon to board their expedient flight
their folly the tale of Irish delight
aurevoir! Les Blue we hear the Irish cry
Sweet song of Karma ''the hand of frog''
