The construction of the 2nd Niger bridge is ongoing, both at the Onitsha end and at the Asaba end. The preconstruction involves 4 stages, after that the main construction work will start. The work is now in stage 4.

The Asaba end has progressed quite a bit. Piles designed to support the bridge are being sunk, 310 out of 615 have been sunk so far. The bridge is expected to be completed in 2020.
