...NUBSS commends Him for Appointing A Student Friendly Commissioner.

The Bayelsa State Education Commissioner, Hon. Jonathan Obuebite has called for understanding and more supports from students of the Tertiary Institutions, saying that it is the only way that the government would be encouraged to do even much more in the sector.

The commissioner made this know when he received Executives from the National Union of Bayelsa Students (NUBSS) at his office in Yenagoa. He said that it is no longer gossip or rumor that the State Government has invested so much in the sector and it would be regrettable if Bayelsa students and youths don’t grab the opportunity with both hands especially the Student Loan that would be launched soon to enable every son and daughter of the State to acquire education to even the highest level as it were without fear of how to raise the required fund.

“For me as the commissioner for Education, I will not rest until I see the desire of the Governor fulfilled, and that desire is to see Bayelsans in their numbers attain National and International positions, courtesy of a good and solid education which is what we have provided and are still providing”, he said.

He promised to take their demands to the Governor and assured them that those that are urgently needed would be provided sooner than they think, he also urged them to continue to preach the gospel of peace and oneness in our institutions and in the State at large.

Meanwhile the National President, Comrade Okeren Benjamin on behalf of his team, thanked His Excellency for appointing a young and student friendly commissioner to man the affairs of the ministry and the entire education sector in the State, he also thanked the commissioner for listening to them and for promising to look into their demands and relay it to the Governor for intervention.

Okeren says it is based on the warm reception that the Union has always gotten from the Governor and the commissioner that has prompted the decision by the union to pass a vote of confidence on the Governor for his ability to always put the welfare of the students first every time the need arises.

He assured the State Government and the Ministry of Education that the National Executives would work with the government to achieve a common goal moving forward.
