As the wind of defection continues to hit the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. (Pastor) Abasiandikan Nkono, Special Assistant to Gov. Udom Emmanuel,Princess Enobong Nkanta former treasurer of Peoples Democratic Party, Eket chapter and their supporters dumped the PDP yesterday.

The defection ceremony held at All Progressives Congress, Okon Development 2 Ward office, attracted mammoth crowd.

Introducing the defectors, APC Okon Development Ward 2 chairman, Mr. Fred Asuquo described Hon. Abasiandikan Nkono as one of the "prominent sons" of Okon Eket who has been in the forefront of the development in the area. According to Mr. Asuquo "Hon. Abasiandikan Nkono shall be an asset to our great party in Eket and the entire state.

His triumphant entry into the party is highly cherish", he said. He commended Princess Enobong Nkanta for her timely decision to join the party, and urged her to mobilize other women in the area to join the party. "Princess Nkanta is not a new name in Akwa Ibom politics. With her in the party, APC is sure to take over Akwa Ibom State".

Receiving the decampees, Eket chapter chairman of the party, Evang.Willie Etuk welcomed and urged them to see APC as their home as there is no discrimination in the party.

"Thank God you are here at the right time when registration of members of the party is ongoing. Make sure you register as your registration guarantees your full rights in the party" Evang. Etuk said.

He urged them to be loyal and committed in the party as rewards await all faithful members.
Mr. Dike Duke, Mr. Charles Ebongho and other speakers expressed the hope that with the coming into the party by the decampees, Okon zone in Eket stands a great chance of benefiting from the incoming APC government in Akwa Ibom State next year.

Highpoint of the event as witnessed by many,was the presentation of Broom, the party symbol.
