Mad rush for police job

Like similar commands across the Federation, the Kaduna State Police Command has been a beehive of activities over the past few days as about 10,000 candidates from all the local government councils in the state converged on the Police College to try their luck in the on-going recruitment.







Majority of the candidates were secondary school certificate holders all exuding confidence presumably to impress on the recruitment officials that they were fit and ready for a career in the police if eventually recruited.

However, the command had made a significant breakthrough when its officers smashed a fake recruitment syndicate that had hitherto, extorted money from unsuspecting candidates that were desperate to join the police.

The command arrested a 40 year old man, Dauda Shuaibu and his accomplice Abubakar Mohammed who posed to be the state Police Recruitment Officer and recovered from them files and money from such candidates

While Parading the suspects and their victims at the police headquarters, the Commissioner of Police , Tambari Yabo Mohammed, said that the suspects were arrested at their office located at number 12, Argungu Kaduna.

He said they had overwhelming evidence against the suspects and would charge them to court when investigation was concluded.

"Police recruitment is free and not to be paid for.You are all aware that we are currently on recruitment exercise nationwide and not just in Kaduna State.

People join the police in nigeria with the same intentions as the politicians,not to serve and build but to loot and destroy.

I think they do so because they need a job first.

Police is not just principally a job but a calling for men and women of positive principles.To serve and to protect not to betray and destroy like we have in nigerian police

Don't they have people in US and UK who enter their police force to serve and betray?

Of course there are few bad eggs in police everywhere,but in nigeria bad egg is the rule of the game,they are in majority.It is a norm to be a bad police officer in nigeria just like it is a norm to be a corrupt politician.

Why not consider paying them well instead of N20k a month and see whether there will be so many bad eggs among them?.

Of course nigerian government wouldn't want an updated police force because if they are,corruption and maladministration will be things of the past in nigeria

The police has no business with corruption in our administration per say. It is the job of the EFCC which acts like the FBI.

Police are the protectors and upholders of the laws,the executioners.A state without a reputable and upright police force is like a war like state
