I'm planning a trip to new york in august for a shopping trip and bit of sightseeing, can you guys please recommend places to shop at discounted rates? clothes shopping e.t.c

go to old navy, target, walmart, kmart, conway (if that still exists) etc some of these stores can be found around 28th street and 72nd street on park avenu madison ave, broadway, 5th ave in manhattan.

if you can go see the empire state building when you get there go to the top the veiws are crazy, you can see the statue of liberty for free (not too close but free) by riding the staten island ferry from manhattan to staten island and back to manhattan free. On wednesday you can go to the bronx zoo for free though they dont show you everything. Make sure you visit times square on 42nd street lots of people and things to see and buy. To experience the clean beach take the metro north trains to long island they have free connecting bus that will take you to jones beach. to see your fellow Nigerians go to redeem church in the bronx on sunday located on 175th street and morris ave in the bronx. What else am i forgetting umm, oh yea to get cheap possibly imitation stuff check out china town. 6 train to canal street will take you there and the stores and resturants are endless. If you have money to spare you can take a 2hr bus ride to new jersey's atlantic city there you will find a nice beach hotels with casinos lots of shops (not necessarily cheap) and fun. well i hope more folks will give you more input. enjoy your trip


p.s check out fordham road in the bronx for shopping and flatbush in brooklyn ( crowded areas with lots of different ethnic people)
