As smartphones increasingly add processing power and large batteries with fast-charging technology, overheating has become one of the major problem smartphone users’ face every day. Though in most cases overheating is usually attributed to a hardware issue, there are other commonly neglected activities that make our phones get much hotter than expected.

When these smartphones overheat, users can experience some major problems like draining your battery, melting your Central Processing Unit (CPU) and battery or even causing your phone to forcefully shutdown. However, there are many tips available for preventing and limiting this heating effect. Below are six interesting tips that would help you fix this.

Remove the Case

Almost all smartphones come with a phone case and these cases usually cover the phone’s vent hence making the phone overheat. So by removing the phone cover when charging or using heavy apps, it goes a long way in keeping the phone cool.

Place the Phone on a Hard Surface

Just like your laptop and other similar electronic devices, placing them on a soft surface like a bed, rug or sofa while charging makes them soak up heat thereby causing overheating but when placed on a smooth hard surface like a table, air freely goes in and out without any restrictions.

Avoid Over Charging

Although smartphones now come with electrical charging circuits that prevent the device from overcharging when fully charged, the older versions do not have this feature. So, it is advisable to avoid overcharging or overnight charging in order to prevent overheating of such smartphones because it can lead to an explosion.

Avoid Direct Sunlight to Your Phone

Users can also prevent smartphones especially the ones with plastic back covers from heating up by simply avoiding direct sunlight. When exposed to direct sunlight, your smartphone attracts light and heat from the sun and retains it thus allowing it to get hotter the longer it remains in the sun.

Turn Off Unused Apps on Your Phone

Allowing apps you’re not using to run in the background do not only run down battery life but also increase the heat on the device. Therefore, it is wise to always turn off unused apps because it does not only save battery life but also increases the speed at which the device works, which in turn decreases heat.

Avoid Using Third-Party Chargers and Batteries

Some third-party chargers and batteries could be responsible for heating up smartphones. Therefore, it is advisable to purchase these accessories from a reliable outlet in order to avoid overheating which could result in an explosion.
