AUTHENTIC SERMON. Topic - THE SECRET OF DIVINE REST. Presenter - CHUGO IZUCHUKWU CHUKWUMBAA. Text - Psalm 91:1-16. The Bible says in Psalm 91:1 - "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, will rest in the shadow of the Almighty". Do you want to rest in the shadow of the Almighty? "Dwell in the shelter of the Most High". Some people want to rest in the shadow of the Almighty but at the same time they don't want to dwell in the shelter of the Most High. You cannot enjoy the benefits in the latter, without fulfilling the requirement in the former. Once you take the former, the latter will accompany it.

I just want to let you know that there is no one who can give you rest except Jesus Christ. When Adam and Eve disobeyed the Lord, the Lord cursed man saying - "cursed is the ground because of you, through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life, it will produce thorns and thistles for you, ........, until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken, ........". Do you know what it means that the land will produce thorns and thistles? It simply means, as far this world is concerned, there would always be troubles and challenges of life. Starting from that day, the world became the world of troubles, before then, it was not like that. In this world in which we are, there are many things that cause people to weep, there are deaths everywhere, there are many sickness or diseases, there are people who are in great pains, there are people who are extremely poor, in fact, there are many challenges of life.

But thanks to Jesus Christ who came into the world in order to redeem mankind - "What a love?" Jesus Christ says in the book of Matthew 11:28 - "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest". The rest the Bible is talking about is "The Divine Rest". If Jesus grants you this divine rest, you would be able to tackle the challenges of life and become a victorious. Today, I pray for you, may the Lord grant you the divine rest. When we are talking about the Divine Rest, it involves a lot of things. Some of the things it involves are Long Life, Good Health, Peace of Mind, Happiness, God's Blessings, Divine Protection, Wisdom, etc, and most especially Eternal Life (Salvation). Divine Rest is beyond what you will enjoy in this world, even after the world, you will rest in the bosom of the Lord.

Let's look at some of them. "Peace of Mind" - The peace we are talking about is that which has to do with tranquility. Isaiah 57:21 says "There is no peace, says my God, for the wicked". Also, Isaiah 57:2 says " Those who walk uprightly enter into peace, they find rest as they lie in death" There is nothing like the peace of mind, 1John 3:21 says "Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God". The kind of peace Jesus gives is not as the world gives. Satan can give you something with right hand and take it with left hand. But when Jesus gives you, he gives you abundantly without finding fault. There are many people who are wealthy, yet, they don't have the peace of mind. The Bible says in Luke 12:15 - A man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions. As you dwell in the shelter of the Most High, the PEACE of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, just as the Bible declares in Philippians 4:7.

Another one is "God's Blessings" - Psalm 75:6-7 says 6-"No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt a man". 7-"But it is God who judges, He brings one down, He exalts another". If you dwell in the shelter of the Most High, you will always be favoured both in the sight of God and man. Where other went and failed, you will go and succeed, when others are sitting down, you will be standing up, when others are standing up, you will be outstanding. Proverbs 10:22 says "The blessings of the Lord brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it". Don't forget, Psalm 127:1-2 says 1-"Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labour in vain, ........".

Another one is "Eternal Life" - The most important part of divine rest is Eternal Life (Salvation). The ontological mission or the paramount purpose why Jesus came into world is SALVATION. Psalm 91:16 says "With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation". If you dwell in the shelter of the Most High, in this world, the Lord will give you long life, even after this world, you will inherit the kingdom of God.
