In recent times, there has been seriouse outcry in almost all the states in the country over unpaid salaries, arrears, gratuities and other entitlements of workers. Although all of these states receive monthly allocations from the FG on regular basis, many of the governors find it difficult to pay salaries of workers in their states, and those who manage to be up to date with the salaries, still have issues of backlog of other entitlements like; gratuities, promotion arrears, pentions etc that are yet to be paid even when all of these states generate huge IGR in addition to what comes from the FG. Inspite all of this, many of these governors embarck on projects that are either not completed or put not to use to justify the amount of funds invested into such projects. Will it be a good idea if governors forget projects and focus on clearing these backlogs of salaries and entitlements? Pls forgive my grammatical errors.
