THE Presidency yesterday dismissed corruption allegations against the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.

A national newspaper had claimed that Kyari demanded bribe as a condition for the award of a contract.

Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu, said the publication was improbable and outlandish as Kyari had no “private meetings with the person making those allegations.”

He added:”What is even more surprising is the decision by the newspaper to run the cooked up lies despite obvious loopholes in the story, such as the Bureau of Public Procurement’s denial that a major source for the story was a member of their staff.

“With a slew of crucial elections ahead, some politicians and their media agents appear to be working together to build pressure on the Buhari administration by wielding non-existent scandals against it.

“We equally note that the supply of 15 Hilux vehicles for the Presidency was an unlikely contract to have been awarded, as it did not exist anywhere in the 2016 and 2017 budgets.

“Checking the appropriation for 2016 and 2017, that request is not even there. How could Abba Kyari have asked for money to award a contract that did not exist anywhere at all?

“In addition to that, the amount allegedly given in bribe was also suspicious, as the office of the presidential aide had been known in the past to receive imprest of N200 million and above every month, with no one expected to give account.

“It was only since Abba Kyari occupied that position that things changed.”

According to him, it is difficult to make a case of N29 million bribery against an official who spurned a monthly payment of N200 million to his office, which he didn’t need to account to anyone.

Let Abba kyari come out and defend himself what about the allegation that he use DSS officer to detain the victims and the police man investigating the fraud. What about the meeting they held at Caledonia hotel in Maitama and last week Abba kyari called the victims elder brother for him to return all the money he collected from the victim

The proper thing is to order a speedy and comprehensive investigation of the weighty allegation before absorbing the indicted Chief of Staff to avoid a repeat of Ex SGF's drama.

smiley presidency isn't defending aba kyari, its simply defending buhari himself. chief of staff to a president is almost like an executive assistant/secretary to the CEO in private sphere. in true sense, a secretary only act in the interest of his principal, all bribe collected or not wouldn't mean a thing if his principal doesn't assent or give authority. Now ask yourself why buhari decided to use a questionable smart banker with many years of banking experience as his chief of staff, perhaps to handle some kind of money perfectly without paper trail. Or why else would buhari place himself and Abba kyari as the board member of NNPC, and rumors and allegations have been flying of shady contracts left and right. Seriously buhari and his cronies ran 3 unsuccessful nationwide campaigns, and went to supreme court 2 times, does anyone think Mr integrity wouldn't recoup back the billions they all burnt

"According to him, it is difficult to make a case of N29 million bribery against an official who spurned a monthly payment of N200 million to his office, which he didn’t need to account to anyone«.

This last statement smells of impunity and it's a proof that the allegation is true. He collected the money via a proxy and the guy in question (accusing him) is a relation of his. He related everything that transpired in a live radio program (Brekete, for those that live in Abuja). Now trying to divert our attention by bringing in politics is only being smart by half.. I guess the Adeosun Certificate saga is also political huh.

This administration stock in trade is to label every person as a thief except them, and defend every one of their own with everything they have once allegation like this one crops up.

Babachir Lawal's own has been swept under the carpet up till today.

We must put a stop to this. Sadly, the oppositions are not any better.

-Buhari defended the criminal Lawal Babachir twice but the Senate committee stood their ground.

-Buhari, AGF, Obono-Obla,defended the fugitive criminal Maina while the DSS provided him with security details till he evade justice.

-Sagay, Femi Adeshina have also defended the criminal forgery/perjury NYSC certificate scandal of the finance minister-Kemi Adeosun.

-Now the presidency is defending a grossly corrupt Abba Kyari that have been an arrow head of all the corruption scandals in the APC government without allowing him to go defend himself.
APC government is corruption itself.Nigeria vote out this useless government.

I just don't understand. Why not gather ample evidence against him. If there is any. And then charge him. Not all these media trials.
I am not supporting any corrupt element. But there should be enough evidence.

This guy swore with Holy Quran that he met. Baba kyari 4 times.
He knows him because Anna kyari is his uncle.
Now let's assume this is all lies.
This guy revealed yesterday that Anna kyari called his elder brother and told him to call his brother to order and that he will pay the full money back.
Lastly remember when the issue was taken to EFCC and the same anna Kyari called EFCC that it's a family matter they will settle it.
This issue is not fresh. EFCC is aware DSS is aware and people have been arrested for months. The innocent police man trying to help spent 2mobths in DSS underground.
Please spare us.
Even if this guy was scammed, other facts have been revealed. EFCC is aware of this matter and have refused to act and people who were willing to act were removed from office.
We await the cover ups and lies that will follow. But Nigerians must wake Up.
I totally believe PMB and his intentions but I have 0 trust in his hench men.
