- Decry Navy harassment, extortion

Adewale Sanyaolu

Except urgent steps are taken, Nigerians may soon witness another round of fuel scarcity as the Petroleum Tankers Drivers (PTD) branch of NUPENG have suspended petroleum products loading across depots in Lagos.

A visit by Daily Sun to major and independents marketers’ depot in Apapa yesterday revealed that all PTD members had complied with the directive of the association.

At Ijora and Sunrise in Apapa, long stretches of tankers dotted the entire length of Dockyard road without drivers in sight to load petroleum products.

Some marketers who spoke to Daily Sun lamented that, should government fail to intervene and resolve the disagreement between PTD members and the Navy, the situation would in the next two days lead to acute shortage of petroleum products.

good day

Interesting : hypocrites doing what they do best two faced sons of bitches actually giving advise to save when they infact did not save anything during their administration

Furthermore Buhari has indeed learnt from mistakes of the past that removing subsidy is political suicide and its unrealistic as the landing cost and price of fuel per liter would be 300+ without subsidy, will any idiot who will like PDP's post afford to buy petrol at 320/liter?

Until the threat to refineries are removed
Political avengers in Nigeria delta
Power stability for cheap and efficient production in refineries
Bunkering and pipeline vandalization

Nigeria's current refinery won't produce our daily consumption

Other alternative is to build another refinery , but Dangote is already doing that, if it'll serve the same purpose better not to waste money on another

PDP raped Nigeria they shouldn't be talking at all

ok

The only way forward is to DEREGULATE...ie increase fuel prices.

Right now we

1,Import most of the fuel we use in this country.

2.Even if ALL the refinery were working in this country....we would still need to import 20-70million liters of PMS alone.

3.Landing cost of fuel is now N180 per liter.

4.Marketers are forced to sell at N145 per liter.

5.Subsidy only gives marketers N25 at least per liter of fuel sold...meaning no profits made...meaning no jobs, no investment ,no resources.

6.Even IF dangote comes on stream....Dangote...will not sell fuel at N145 per liter...not while he has loans of $6billion to pay back (he took $6bn loan to build that refinery.).

7.If deregulation happens....we will have fuel price of N300 per liter. Yes...it is harsh. Yes...it is wrong...BUT....investment will flow in, especially foregn investment...and jobs will be created, and government will save BILLIONS in dollars.

So...let us DEREGULATE....or we will keep on seeing hoarding, smuggling, etc.

I agree government should act - shoot the tank drivers, and replace them with people who can drive tankers and a re looking for a job.
