Attahiru Bafarawa, a Peoples Democratic Party presidential aspirant who spoke during a meeting with Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum in Abuja on Sunday, stated that the only way to develop and move the nation forward is through the restructuring of the polity.

The former Sokoto State governor who noted that the nation would have passed the stage it was if the political leaders had listened to the counsels of the SMBLF members at the parley, who included Pan-Niger Delta Forum leader, Chief Edwin Clark; Afenifere chieftain, Chief Ayo Adebanjo; President-General of Ohanaeze, Chief John Nwodo;  Middle Belt Forum President, Dr Bitrus Pogu, and a host of others, stated that no rational northerner would oppose the restructuring of the country.

Federal character and quota system killed the competitive spirit of most people in the North while it denied opportunities to competent people in the south who have the wherewithal to uplift Nigeria from the doldrums.
