• Opts for primary election to pick candidate • May prune down presidential aspirants to 6 ahead of national convention However, there is an option that some of the aspirants could use proxies to obtain nomination forms for other elective positions Barely three weeks to its national convention and presidential primary, the main opposition political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has foreclosed the option of picking its presidential candidate for the 2019 election through consensus arrangement. http://sunnewsonline.com/2019-presidency-pdp-dumps-consensus-candidate-option/

I hope the preocess of prunning goes well else, it can start trouble. Personally, I prefer allowing everyone go to the primary if they wont step down. That way, any aspirant that loses knows that he (no female aspirant?) contested and lost fairly. But prunning aint bad too though 21 Likes 1 Share |

In this regard, the party is looking for a candidate who the North, as a zone, including traditional institution, the elite and down-trodden, would accept as its own, especially since the major opponent, President Muhammadu Buhari, has a northern appeal. So PDP is looking for a Northern candidate.... Very very interesting. In my opinion, 2019 is going to be one fine race. PDP choosing a Northern candidate might work in their favour...especially as APC is anathema in the SE and SS and crucially the Middle Belt. They might get a narrow win next year. On the other hand...SE may be eyeing the presidency in 2023 (though as I have said elsewhere, an SE Veep means the SE gets into government for a potential 16 years, the last 8 being as president)...so APC might get somewhere in the SE...though that is a looooong shot. PDP still looking like the better option...16 years on top. The unknown quantity is the SW....will the SW go for APC or PDP this time? 7 Likes 1 Share |

Its as simple as pruning it down to: Atiku Saraki Kwankwaso Lamido Tambuwal Markafi The rest would be acknowledged for dropping their ambition for the greater good of all Nigerians in 2019, which is a onerous task. 25 Likes 1 Share |

ATIKULATE is the most popular candidate but he won't sell like KWANKWASO in the north. I can attest to one thing, KWANKWASO is a core Grassroot politician with followers with his ideology. SARAKI is a stunt man with poor popularity . In another News, #BACKTODAURA if you concur, hit like. 41 Likes |

They are all thieves. Buhari is still better than most of them and more honourable. The only issue with him is that age is not on his side anymore. But we will keep praying to God to grant him sound health and give him the know how wisdom to rule us. 54 Likes 7 Shares |

BeeBeeOoh: The only selling candidate in the pdp is Ex- vice president Abubakar Atiku. Atiku is making wave because of his interest in implementing restructuring if elected. This is a bold step especially coming from a northerner in a conservative northern Nigerian. 1 Like |

Pruning of the presidential aspirants would greatly enhance the primaries. Some of them know that they can't even win if selected as the flag bearer. Here are who I consider the heavyweights that can handle Naija and should be allowed for the primaries. former Vice President Atiku abubakar, he is desperate and has the ability to match the antics of Buhari, plus he has something he is willing to sell, restructuring, plus he is seen as a fairly detribalized person. East and West might vote for him. Senate President, Bukola Saraki he atleast is young and seems to know how to rally Nigerians together, both the young and old. Ahmed Makarfi, talk about loyalty, he should be allowed to run, not because I think he will emerge but because he has been loyal to the party, therefore he should get an honorable elimination to avoid troubles. Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal could be a formidable aspirant, would be welcomed in the east and maybe in the west. former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, he is old but the same thing I said about markafi should apply to him. These guys should honorably bow out. Gombe State governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, I doubt he can win Northeast. former Minister of Special Duties, Taminu Turaki, I don't know him and a lot of Nigerians don't know him Oformer Senate President, David Mark, you are old Mark and I couldn't really see the change you can effect, I wonder what you used your senate presidency terms to achieve. former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, I don't know what to say here except that I would vote Buhari over him. former governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa should go and rest, I won't vote for you. former governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang, where can you get popular votes oga? Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed and Stanley Osifo from Edo State. Both of you should go and rest I don't see what you can offer and moreover, you guys are not popular figures. 6 Likes |

theoldpretender: The bolded is why the SW remains the Ace of Spades in Nigerian elections cos of its unpredictable voting pattern. Make no mistake about 2019, the SW is voting Buhari and APC. Ask Fayose to tell you how far. So, the SE is now ecstatic to vote for an Hausa Fulani candidate in PDP? When they were calling others Hausa Fulani slaves for voting Buhari, commonsense was far from them at that time? Funny clowns. 37 Likes 5 Shares |

Confused lots. I can’t wait to witness the implosion of PDP after their Primaries. 95% of their aspirants are over ambitious and bad losers. Hiroshima will be a learner. If you’re also enjoying this calamity about to befall the evil party, let’s gather here for popcorn and selfie. 15 Likes 3 Shares
