Salah top three but not in Fifapro XI

The FIFA player of the year is not voted by the same persons that vote for the fifpro (not fifapro) XI

Wouldn't have mattered. There was a time Messi was leading 4-1 and CR7 fans like myself no send scores.

Many neutrals believed Messi was far greater then. And Messi fans were more convincing in their arguments then. In fact, aside Man U and Madrid fans, CR7 didn't have much fans then.

It was only with the performance of the last 4 years that made many people agree CR7 is as great as Messi.

Maybe you're living in an alternate universe. CR7 had many fans then, it's just the media were all over Messi for obvious reasons. He was the star man of a perfect Barcelona team with a perfect coach with a perfect football style. It was a match made in heaven.

Ronaldo was almost always on the podium with Messi, and the last 5 years have simply been a reversal of fortunes. CR7 the star man of a Real Madrid team that could win almost simply by will power alone with a legendary coach and slick, attractive always-attack football style.

CR7 didn't just become the most followed footballer on social media in the last 4 or 5 years. It's always been the case. He has always had more fans than Messi. Messi just had a period where as you said the arguments that he was better appeared more convincing, and so his fans were more vocal.

What CR7 did between 2003 and 2008 at Man U won him lots of fans while Messi was still an understudy of Ronaldinho. From 2008-2012, nothing Ronaldo did mattered. He could have walked on air and the media would still be all over Messi because of his and Barca's achievements then.

#TheBest am not someone who thinks Messi is the best player in the world to be honest
But that messi goal was incredible
It's a 50 diagonal pass going at a really fast pace
He is running at full speed with a defender close by he has to take down and away from the defender
In other to have a chance of a shot
If he tried it with his foot it might be hard to control so he uses his thighs
He manages somehow to control the ball with his thigh and takes away all the pace of the ball never minding the distance the ball travelled from and he still takes
An angelic deft touch immediately while the ball is yet to reach the ground to push it a little bit forward away from the defender to have a shot on goal
Although finish was casual
But lord know the control of that ball was art
Only three players for me have such control
Messi
Zidane
Ronaldinho
And delima Ronaldo
Maybe Dennis Bergkamp

Controlling that pass with your foot once(not thigh) is the highest level of control possible, something messi did not do. So I think messi should not have won it.

......at the expense of Wesly Sneider. So painful till today.

Did sneijder come out top 3 that year? You talk as if sneijder was the clear favorite that year. Even Diego forlan was voted ahead of him. Shoor!

Iniesta and Xavi will look back and wonder why they did not come this time.

At their peak, both were better than Modric.

Nope, not as complete as modric?
Modric was a better defending and attacking midfielder than xavi, and a better defensive and central midfielder than say iniesta.

I think so. Do Canavaro was supposed to win in 2006?

He won serie A player of the season and serie A player of the year in 2006. Better than zidane that year for sure.

Now that Modric has beaten Ronaldo to another award una done dey cry like babies...
Modric beat Ronaldo and Salah to win the Award, He did not beat KING LEO....

I've always said it, the same people that Voted for Modric in the UEFA Award would still vote for him this time...
.
The only one wey me nor understand na how Basket De Gea take see FIFPRO XI
