Maj. Gen. Idris Alkali - The Hypocrisy Of Nigerians by Sirjamo: 11:52pm On Sep 30, 2018
Major General Idris Alkali (rtd) has been missing for weeks now, and the army authority have launched a full scale investigation into the circumstances that led to his mysterious disappearance.
The General is said to be on his way to his farm in Bauchi from Abuja, but went missing somewhere in plateau state.
The army search team tasked by the chief of army staff Lt.Gen. Tukur Buratai to locate the missing retired Major General, dead or alive has been able to recover his vehicle which he was travelling in, along with some of his personal effects in a pond at a village in plateau.
From what has been unraveled so far, it's safe to assume that the General might have been killed, and his car tossed into the pond. While all these was going on, I have paid a lot of attention to the media, civil society organizations, religious bodies ( Especially the Christian association of Nigeria), human right activists, and the general public for reactions and comments, none seems to be forth coming.
I therefore feel obligated to ask the following questions:

1. If it is a Maj. Gen. Gabriel Emmanuel that got abducted somewhere in Kano state, would we be having this graveyard silence?

2. Do we consider the lives of people of some particular ethnicity and religion worthy than others?

3.Could this be one of the reasons why the middle belt region has been repeatedly attacked, especially when it has been discovered that some other vehicles were recovered from the pond? Are the much publicized Fulani herdsmen often on revenge missions due to their members being quietly executed?

4.Is it not the height of hypocrisy for most Nigerians (especially the Christians) to be silent about this, but would shout to high heaven whenever it concerns someone of their faith?

We should remember that an injustice to one, is an injustice to all. I totally condemn any form of violence against humanity, whichever religion or ethnic group he or she might belong to.
The case of General Alkali must be investigated thoroughly, and the perpetrators of such heinous crime must be brought to justice at all costs.

The Killing of Maj. Gen. Alkali is barbaric & should be strongly condemned in its entirety. However. It does not in any way exonerate the Fulani herdsmen. Both sides are guilty. Both sides are having reprisal attacks. If only the FG can dig out all these & punish vehemently the Herdsmen & Villagers doing these continous attacks in a way that is not lopsided & which makes everyone feel justice has been duly served.

Pls don't bring religion into this. Many senior Christian soldiers participated in tracking Gen. Alkali's where about.

If we should wail for just one person that was killed as u said, what should we do to about over 200 people murdered in Jos? The ones that were killed in the north? The ones killed by herdsmen nko.
Before I forget, we had a massacre in our country, and your so called president didn’t say anything about it, but the United States lost 7 of its citizens to Natural disaster and your so called president sent them a condelence message.
Start from the head with your query, mr questionnaire

Majority of Nigerians out here don't love our Army Men, and see 'em as Murderers and Oppressors.

After more than a thousand Shittes were killed in Kaduna, because the blocked Burutai's convoy, and the extra judicial killings of Ipob protesters in the East, i guess many would not really care to sympathise with the Army when the lose one of their own.

See them, crawling out to display the hypocrisy the op talked about. Very disgusting. angry

Nobody is talking about the potential culprits even when all evidences are pointing towards them. But of course, they are not fulanis and have the right to kill, and the only reprimand they get is a light tap on the back.

Over the years, many innocent people especially Hausas, fulanis have been brutally murdered by those carnivals along that route and they never get reported. Early this year, I lost a friend along barkin ladi to these barbaric animals and his remains have not been found till this moment. These are situations that call for most of the attacks by some fulanis whose family members have been victims and wrongly believe it's the only way to seek for justice.

In all these, I blame the government for not living up to its responsibility in protecting the lives of its citizens and providing adequate justice to the aggrieved which in not doing so, makes one to take justice into one's hands.

The day we all set aside tribe, religion and take a holistic approach in putting a stop to this barbaric attacks in the middle belt is the day we get it right. Else there will always be more and more attacks and reprisals.

That is the best your presidency can say to the killings going on in the country, while you applaud.

Is it because he is a General that's why you put up this long writeup?

Have you done the same to the innocent people being killed in:
Noman?
Agatu?
Benue/tv villages
Riyom?
Lau in Taraba?
Takum?
Wukari?
Southern Kaduna?
This is hypocrisy of the highest ...?
Every life matters... None deserve to die this way.

No sir, the Christian officers were doing their official duties. Op God bless you for raising the issue of hypocrisy. Every now and then you hear of fulani herdsmen (muslim?) killings in plateau state. Yet nothing about the countless people being abducted and killed without trace in Christian areas of plateau while travelling through those areas. Innocent inter-state tavellers who have nothing to do with plateau state, just because they look Muslim. This general's case has exposed everything.
