The Jigawa Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan, has been elected as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Jigawa Northeast Senatorial District in 2019 general elections. According to NAN, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Alhaji Bello Ibrahim, announced the results in Hadejia on Thursday. He said that Hassan scored 1,863 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Alhaji Ahmad Garba, who polled 142 votes, while Hussaini Mohammed scored 44 votes. Ibrahim said that 2,062 votes were recorded in the election, saying that 13 of the votes were invalid. Speaking after the election, Hassan urged his opponents to accept the results in the interest of the party.
