Portharcourt, the capital of Rivers State has been witnessing the hustling and bustling which it had not experienced for a very long time before now. Road traffic in the city which ordinarily had not been smooth had been worsened as a result of the increased influx of vehicular movements- thanks to the last minute political maneuvering that eventually allowed Governor Nyesom Wike to host the PDP national convention.

But beneath the fecade of the hyper activity is the undercurrent of political calculations as the PDP gets set for its convention.

Otherwise high flying Presidential Aspirants- former Vice President ATIKU Abubakar, Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal and former Kano State Governor, Senator Tabiu Musa Kwankwaso appear to be heading for s disaster as feelers indicate that majority of party leaders with their delegates in tow are rooting for a pound of flesh from these men ostensibly because they not only defected when the PDP was not dancing to their tunes, but also teamed up with the then opposition party, APC to try to destroy, nay kill the party. The feelings are that they cannot harvest where they did not sow and even tried to destroy the ‘farm’.
In addition, delegates are feeling that the three some, having held or holding elective positions are not immune from EFCC investigation just as their counterparts past and present. They are therefore perceived as ‘danger zone’ which the currrent APC government can use to harass any of them and get him disqualified at the last minute when no substitutes would be possible.

Besides, ATIKU and Gombe State Governor, Dankwambo stands the risk of being kicked out of the race because the opinion is in favour of a candidate from the North West to square up with President Muhammadu Buhari for the ‘juicy’ millions of electoral votes in the region.
