Is Parenting All That African Societies Need To Thrive? by henry5050: 7:59pm On Oct 07, 2018
IS PARENTING All THAT AFRICAN
SOCIETIES NEED TO THRIVE ?

According to Brooks (2012) Parenting or child rearing is the process of promoting and supporting the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of a child from infancy to adulthood. Parenting refers to the intricacies of raising a child and not exclusively to the biological relationship.

According to Eriega (2006) parenting is defined as all the rearing practices implicated by the family as well as all the maternal and paternal influences evolved so that the child can live a fulfilled life.

With the above definitions, I would say yes indeed, parenting is all that any society requires to grow. The future of any society depends on the quality of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of a child that he or she got from his or her parents, teachers and guardians through parenting.

A society cannot be said to be developing if there is no effective maternal and paternal influences on her children.

According to Dike (2017) A society cannot rise above the mentality of its majority.
The development of every African society rest on the mentality infused in her children by their parents, teachers and guardians, not basically on infrastructures because, a society cannot be more than her thoughts.

Great nations saw the clue of bettering their society not in the number of what is beneath their grounds but in the quality of mentality they give to their children at home, schools and everywhere they find themselves.

As we often time say "Attitude is everything ". The right attitude we need to better our African societies can only be found in the content of what parents, teachers and guardians give to their children to imbibe.

Africa is underdeveloped not because of low power supply, bad roads, poor governance but, because of the refusal of parents to spore the minds of their children not to accept mental limitation.

For because a government is bad and during your time you did little or nothing to better it, does not mean all hope is lost. We can teach our children how not to accept mental limitation. From small we can condition their minds to focus on nation building.

Imagine a society where we come to the realization of the fact that parenting is a difficult task but, it is achievable . Based on that, we put up centers where one would learn how to parent a child and the act of rearing children.

Indeed parenting is everything. And everything our society needs to grow is in the mind of that little child you see on the street. Please ensure that he or she is not mentally limited, ensure he or she imbibe the right kind of attitude. Do not corrupt them, for it is the proper upbringing you give to them that determine if you truly played a role in the actualization of a better African society.
