Those Pushing Atiku to Pick a Vice President from the South West are Enemy-Friends . To win you need to consolidate your Perceived Strong Hold not relegating it . South West will never give PDP Block Votes even with a South West VP unless
1- Atiku must get the blessing and Support of Tinubu .
2- Allow Tinubu to select his anointed candidate as his VP
3- Promise to step down in 2023 and hand over to South West

Majority of Igbos will never vote APC and Buhari but it does not mean they Most vote Atiku and PDP there will be massive voters apathy in 2019 if we feel that the two party does not represent our best interest , This voters apathy will only favour APC and Buhari .

Secondly , the political fact on ground is that The South East have the biggest voting block and Geographical spread in Nigeria from Kano, Kaduna , Abuja etc to the south West states we are the second most populous tribe after the Local indigenes of the land , So the South East influence is more even outside the GeoPolitical zones .

So for Atiku to stand a chance of defeating Buhari he need to consolidate his stronghold first Like South South , South East , North central , North East etc and then see how to get 60/40 votes from Buhari Stronghold like North west , South West etc .

I believe if the Igbos can have a reason to vote in 2019 it will be a great victory for PDP . But we won't vote if our interest is not clearly represented

I think the main interest used to be Biafra or no vote in the SE....is Atiku as president the Biafra struggle?

smiley let it be known that the west won 3 national elections (mko*1 obj*2) defeating core northerners twice(Ibrahim tofa of kano state, buhari of katsina). and Ibrahim tofa had an Igbo running mate in 1993, buhari also had okadigbo as running mate 2003 both loosing woefully with a wide margin. Any mistake for atiku to pick a vp from a region with only 7m PVC lowest by all standard, and a region whose VP candidate always bring about loss would just spell doom for everyone (by doom I mean continuation of buhari's mismanagement of our economy, and by everyone I mean every Nigerian regardless of tribe or political affiliation)

Atiku will win both NE and NC. If he wants The total support of SE, he should pick an Easterner SS will follow suit. Buhari can win NW and SW we don't care.

U forgot that North East will favour Buhari more than Atiku @op.
Yobe, Borno, Bauchi have always gone to Buhari and they will do so against Atiku because they are APC strong holds (Shetima and Giadam and co will do all to help him).

Buhari will get up to 30% or more in few Eastern states like Imo (Okorocha will do anything for that) and Enugu due to some heavyweights in APC.

Buhari will get up to 30% or more in Delta, Akwa Ibom and Rivers. He will win Edo due to Obaseki and Oshiomole.

Buhari will win the South West. Fayemi will do all to win Ekiti for him, Osun, Oyo, Ondo and Lagos (1.9m votes from their registered members in Lagos already) will go to him.

Atiku cannot get up to 30% in North West because of their sentiments.

Atiku has North Central.
The odds are against Atiku.

And don't forget OP that we from South South and South East don't like turning up for elections which is an advantage to Buhari.

Short lesson for Afonjas because they don't travel much. NE is historically a Christian region. There is a reason Boko Haram is in the region...to conquer it effectively since Islamic conquest didn't finish the job. That said, Atiku will win Bauchi(PDP controlled state), win Adamawa, win Bornu( not different from Adamawa...mainly same people), win Taraba and will lose Yobe to Buhari. I lived in Maduguri.

what ekuti or osun? it was rig with federal might. from history ekiti election has always be closed and no incumbent has ever won election there.

Buhari popularity has drop significantly in the north. stop over estimate him

Which history? When PDP used to allocate votes? Or the one Fayose bought votes in 15?
Fayemi studied Fayose's "appeal" & stood toe to toe with him, now PDP stake in Ekiti is no more... You can argue all you want but stick to SE , as for SW ? Nah.
