"If you keep doing what you have always done, you will keep getting what you have always gotten" ~English proverb

Why do people vote in elections? To elect competent leaders who will ensure their safety and welfare? If that is the case then there is no point voting in 2019. The various tribes that make up the SE/SS area should boycott the 2019 elections for several reasons:

1) People have been voting for the last 20 years in Nigeria with no tangible benefit.

2) The SE/SS should come to the realisation that Nigeria is a monumental disaster and anyone who participates in its politics will be part of that disaster

3) Boycotting the 2019 elections will help the SS/SE focus on more important things such as self determination

4) Boycotting the polls will send a powerful message to the international community as well the political elite of Nigeria that the people no longer want to be part of the political process, and by extension, Nigeria.

In the last 20 years that people have been voting in Nigeria, 50 million people in th country have been pushed into poverty making it the poverty capital of the world. China where they don't even vote, has managed to pull over 300 million people out of poverty.

So What is the point of voting if voting has never done you any good?

Zones that have held the presidency and vice-presidency for years have nothing to show for it but ignorant fools are still insisting on getting these positions as if it is heaven and Earth.

IF YOU TRULY WANT TO MAKE A CHANGE, BOYCOTT THE 2019 ELECETIONS AND INSIST ON SELF DETERMINATION!

IPOB policy of non participation in political process is dead on arrival.
They can't effectively boycott what they are not part of.

It's got nothing to do with Buhari or anybody. It doesn't matter who gets elected, Nigeria is heading nowhere because it does not work as a nation.

Since nothing is working, what is the point of voting?

Atiku need to pick a running mate from the South West. That will give him an easy ride to Aso rock come 2019.
Already, the Northern votes will go to Atiku 70%
The South Eastern / South South votes will go to Atiku 90% North central votes 90%
Where Buhari still has many sympathizers is in the South West. And that is mainly for Osibanjo.
A strong credible candidate for vp slot from the South West will scatter their votes
The South East can be given Secretary to the government. That will do for the region for now.
The collective target for now should be to send Buhari back to Daura.

I disagree with the OP completely.

As long as the South East is still part of Nigeria, the Igbos should continue to participate in the election.

I have never been a fan of Atiku, but for this election, as long as the contest is between Atiku and the monumental failure presently occupying Aso Rock, Atiku will have my vote.

We should do things with sense. I told my Ipob friends that if you don't want Obiano, vote him out. Boycotting the election will give him the victory he is looking for and it happened.

It is better to vote out the worst while you still purse what you are pursuing than to plan in a very bad condition.

What is the point Not voting? You will only help Buhari indirectly to return to power and you can't do anything about it except lamentation.

You don't get it, Nigeria will never work no matter who you vote. You must first get a working system before you talk about who to vote for

If your car has a very bad engine, if you like, get the best driver in the world, you will not get to your destination

We need the old car to get to the destination where we buy the new car. We can't trek and abandon the car just like that as far as it is still moving. It is better than trekking. Trekking will drain all our energy

Yoruba moslems. They shifted from we want PDP National Chairman to PDP should field Tambuwal. When they failed at both, they started blackmailing PDP for VP and now it is Ndi Igbo should boycott an election that would produce the first Igbo VP in this republic.

We are Biafrans, but we ain't boycotting any election. This is Nigeria's last chance to get it right and we believe an Igbo man should be on that team.

Deny us VP, we would not only boycott the election, every single Igbo man, politicians and not would all pick up IPOB membership card.

I have always been an IPOB sympathiser but in this case its a big no!.

.Boycotting next years elections by IPOBwill be very unwise cos buhari will easily coast home to victory upon which he will inflict more harm on Nigerians especially Igbos using his gestapo securuty forces..

...sometimes its wise to restrategise and look for multiple ways to achieve a goal especially dealing with the beastly folks called FG...

..since it is clear the FG/Nigerian system bays for Igbo blood at the drop of a hat,and since IPOB is not exactly keen on shedding so much blood, its wise to elect leaders who do not hold such hard-line stance against us one election at a time until we can make enough in-roads to be truely confrontational and stand our ground come what may....

The international agitation is very okay, but Igboland cannot afford to boycot ekection and risk being presided over by a character like buhari for too long..The killers of IPOB members have not been brought to book as we speak.

..Its either IPOB acts really tough, ready for show-down with the FG security forces or restrategises by scheming for ways to get their members and sympathisers into the political scenes, thereby altering the structure in their favour with time.

Dis-integration of a country takes time and patience and strategic planning...lets be wise

It doesn't matter who rules Nigeria, wether APC or PDP, Nigeria is doomed.

Wether Buhari or Atiku rules, both are as bad as each other.

The matter here is that Nigerians have been voting since 1999 till date with nothing to show for it. You think it is 2019 that anything will change?

When will people do something different and stop voting? If we decide to keep doing the same thing over and over again, why complain when nothing works in Nigeria?

Your grand parents voted in the 50's and 60's, your parents voted in the 70's and 80's. You are now voting in 2000's.

Since the late 50's when the British were preparing to handover and go back home, things have got worse. You are still voting

Since the 70's that Nigerians have been voting, other countries they got independence with like South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Ghana have leaped foward while Nigeria has gone backwards. You are still voting

Since 1999 that democracy returned to Nigeria, China where they don't even vote has pulled over 300 million people out of poverty, nearly twice the population of Nigeria. Nigeria where you are voting has pushed 50 million people into poverty and become the poverty capital of the world.

People are moving forward, you Nigerians are voting and moving backward.

You have a car whose engine has knocked, you people are far more interested in looking for a driver than getting another car. Yet you complain that Nigeria is heading nowhere. I laugh in Igbo
