Why The Hatred Of Nigerians? by afrostud(m): 5:26pm On Jul 14, 2010
As i type this, i'm in Ghana checked into Ell'or Castle hotel and jazz gardens around atomic down, Ghanaians, I make bold to say are so phobic of Nigerians that they cringe at the sight of us!, they won't do business with us, i wanted to buy a house but had my offer turned down:reason, I'm Nigerian and my pple are buying up the country, so they need to stop us!, as a Nigerian if you want to do business in Ghana u need to shell out a cool USD300,000!!!, this rule is exclusively for Nigerians, you are exempted if u are a sierra leonian, Ivorian, Togolese etc.
Not only in Ghana do we experience this unwarranted hatred, it's all over the world!, the Killers of Lucky Dube said they killed him cos they thought he is nigerian!, however, majority of black men committing crime all over the world are not nigerians, but, they have nigerian Passport which is cheaper by the dozen(a real shame on us). I knew what extent my country went to to see out apartheid in SA and Namibia, but what do we get in return, HATRED!, Imagine Nigerians needing visa to enter SA!!!, SWAPO(South West Africa People's Organisation) was practically ran by Sam Nujoma as a guest of the Nigerian Govt from Victoria Island, Lagos Nigeria, yet we have to procure some bloody visa to visit namibia.
Should Nigerians chose to become xenophobic, hmmmmm! it'll not be funny at all and you know we can be extremely good at bad things!, so, a clarion call on all nations, especially africans to put themselves into check!, or,

Yeah, i love this topic and i think it's about time Nigerians and the Nigeria Government react on this crucial issue, most especially in the angle that the ghanians are taking the matter. Whatever it is we are all Africans and preaching unity, love and integration amongst all the african Nations. Considering those aid we have rendered in the past to most crisis nation in Africa, i dont believe we ( Nigerians) are being treated this way in those countries. What i see about the ghanians is ''envy'' they are beefing Nigerians at the expense of their economy and development. I learnt they drive GLOBACOM away in their country, they failed to consider the Positive impacts most of these Nigerian establishments we have on their economy and the lives of their citizens. My own candid opinion is that Nigerian should also extend cold relationship with ghanians, they are too little to be at loggerhead with Nigeria. TIT FOR TAT.

Come to the USA, you will see the same thing. They are so cold towards us now that you see it in their attitudes and mannerism. That was not even so 4-5yrs ago because i remember we were so close knit then and you hardly see any friction.

Then i wonder, WHAT AS REALLY HAPPENED, WHY AS THINGS GONE DOWNSTREAM.
Camerounians and most other africans i meet and interact with dont exhibit the same degree of negativism towards us like ghanians do.

I love ghanaians but i dont know why they hate us so.

Have you heard Nigerians talk about other African Countries?

Perhaps if Nigeria was a bit like say South Africa in terms of infrastructure or even a place where many other Africans
migrate to live & study then cool; but, we haven't even got it but we talk down on other African countries and their people and guess what we rush in the thousand and as usual not quietly!!!

Well Nigerians are flocking to Ghana, especially to Accra. I used to live in Accra since I spent my first 2 years at the University of Ghana, Ghanaians are nice people, but Nigerians think they are pushovers.

The Nigerian economy is growing so fast that it's only a matter of time before the Ghanaians need to suck up to us - again.

Africa Grows By 4.5%

The African Development Bank (AfDB) is bullish about Africa's growth outlook, the organization’s Chief Economist, Professor Mthuli Ncube said on Tuesday.

He was speaking at the launch of the African Economic Outlook 2010 report in Johannesburg. The AfDB expects Africa to grow by 4.5 percent and 5.2 per cent in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

It has increased loans to African countries that were severely affected by the 2008 recession. “The outlook for Africa is generally positive. Africa is showing a V-shaped recovery,” said Ncube. He added that though the AfDB was bullish about Africa's growth, it was also aware of the risks.

“Commodity-driven growth might bring further specialization and growth volatility. Exit strategies might be politically difficult,” he said.
Diversification of products in African countries was identified as crucial. Botswana, which is heavily reliant on diamond exports, was severely affected during the recession when global demand was at its weakest.

Mr. Ncube suggested that Nigeria could teach other African countries a few things about diversification. “People think Nigeria is only reliant on oil. There has been a quiet surge in agriculture in terms of contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Nigeria. It's a great diversification,” Ncube said.

The report described East Africa as “the real engine of growth on the continent and the fastest growing region in Africa.” “Africa is on the move. There are so many opportunities,” said Standard Bank, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jacko Maree who attended the launch.

Mr. Ncube also called on governments to encourage the flexibility of exchange rates. “Exchange rate movements in Africa should be flexible. You do need a flexible exchange rate to respond to economic shocks. Flexibility in the exchange rate is the way to go,” he said.

Asked whether there should be a single currency in Africa, Mr. Ncube stated, “One currency for Africa! I don't know when that will happen, but I would say let's start with currency compatibility first.”

How won't foreigners hate us when we don't even get on, like or trust ourselves?. The level of suspicion one sees between tribes alone (particularly b/w yoruba and igbos), even abroad, is enough to make you cringe.

Also, with people tolerating extremely currupt leadership at home, while readily seeking foreign countries to infest with crime and grime, it's hard to imagine a positive perception being formed of us by foreigners.

Abeg lets leave these foreigners alone. We are our own biggest enemy!!

like i said before, if everything Nigerian left that country today, their economy would just crash, more than 15% of the workforce out of jobs, etc. . .
they are nothing but INGRATES!

I agree with you. The hatred between tribes in Nigeria is more than that of Ghanaians towards Nigerians.
They don’t see our own because they are at the benefitting end. Abeg, reap what you sowed.
