As a Yoruba man I could careless about Peter obi, and if the east was that polarised along religious lines he would, haven said that, it is imperative to say that what we need as a nation moving forward is builder, detribilised, entrepreneur and someone committed to restructuring. It would be catastrophic to even consider voting ethnicity over competence

So then it should not matter if we have a Muslim/Muslim for Presidency, or Christian/Christian for Presidency, as long they are competent. Correct?

In politics, people use differences to get what they want. If it isn't senatorial districts, its Anglican vs catholics or Sunni vs Shi'ites and Muslim vs Christian tickets. Bottom line is even if igbos can't allow a Yoruba to be a ward councillor in igboland, or have a Muslim/Jew/ or traditionalist as deputy Governor. That would never stop the advancement of southwest politics, through brotherly inclusion, omoluabi principle, and most importantly respect of other tribes and their political leaders. This we have been slowly and steadily enjoying its benefit, at least we are not economic almajiris like some people that got quite notice even in their own country, our accent and modern houses is prosperous enough for us we don't need been a pest on any of our neighbors. In terms of best educational facilities, we top both private and govt owned, in terms of working sea and airport we top, numbers of power plant in a region we still top, region with highest foreign direct investment they can't compete

While I hate to post on this tribalistic thread, I must say that you're correct.
A Yoruba friend of mine just reminded me about the farsighted nature of Igbos in Nigerian politics.
He said that while Herbert Macauly began the modern Nigerian nationalism, it was actually Igbos that made his dream come true, from Aba market women riot in the 1940s-that started the actual struggle for independence, to the first attempt to rid this country of corruption and return Awolowo to power-later interpreted as Igbo coup, to Ojukwu's fight against the Fulanis through their surrogate Gowon, to calling for return to democracy after so many years Hausa military rule, and now calling for restructuring.
Igbos, like them or hate them have always been at t he forefront, even when they don't benefit from it. People who fought Ojukwu 40 years ago such as Danjuma are today sounding like they're Biafrans!

See as Ibo people are referencing their Yoruba masters to make point on this issue.

Igbo is afraid of diversity. Calling Yoruba for support. grin. You are on your own!

There are no such things like Arewa Igbo muslims, they only have Igbos. there are thousands of them, from Onitcha to Ebonyi, but unlike you Ibos dont called them less Ibos. Politics in Iboland like many other things in the East is not about patronage but capacity. If you beat an Igbo man on anything as long as you did it on a fair ground, he respects you and makes sure everyone knows you are Baba at it. Ask any ibo man who amongst all the politicians from that zone would make a better president? Most would tell you Peter Obi. why? not cos Obi will go there and favour them, but Obi is prolly the best they can offer now. His records speaks for him. If IBos were Yorubas say in lagos, Agbaje would be campaigning for his second term by now. Problem with you guys is you think and act based on blind followership. Igbos respects you based on what you can offer.
So Only competent Ibos no such thing as Muslim Igbos. Igbo Igbos who practice the muslim faith are the best and are willing to hold political offices, Ibos wont discreminate if truely they demostrate they are the best. Yar adua was a Fulani muslim, same with Atiku and Buhari, Igbos chose him simply cos he was the most libral, cleaner and resolute than others. Igbos warned Nigerians about Buhari, he wont achieve much, he would fail even his people, now all of this predictions are glaring for all to see.
it would have made no diff if Atiku chose an Ibo or Not, Ibos would have still voted for him even if he looses, cos they believe is the best amonsgt the two.

Thousands of Igbo Muslims in Onitsha and Ebony? You must be joking. If any Igbo Muslims exist then I doubt if there are up to two thousand

You even dismiss and disregard their views inspite they have self identified and showed themselves numerous times to you. This is further example of your despise for your minority class.

Pachukwudi be careful, treat your minorities with respect.

My dear Islam is virtually nonexistent in igboland. The second major religion after Christianity in igboland is paganism. you should be talking about a Christian-pagan ticket and not a Christian-musllim ticket. In all my life I have never met an Igbo Muslim but have seen a few pagans

I dont respect views of those who disrespect the views espoused by their people. You all give so much credit and followership to Hausa...some of you even label them "innocent" just so you can castigate your fellow Igbos negatively to be guilty.

Last year Igbos in the North came out and said they are Arewa Igbos.

You dismiss them and say they dont exist.

We have heard numerous times on this forum Igbo muslims crying out and saying they need help.

You dismiss them and say they dont exist.

How can one take you serious?
