Vote Out Any Governor Against N30,000 As Minimum Wage, NLC Tells Workers by ManirBK: 6:54pm On Nov 18, 2018
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on workers across the country, especially government employees, to vote against any governor unwilling to implement the new national minimum wage of N30,000 monthly.

NLC insisted that there was no way a governor would not be able to pay the new minimum wage.

This position was canvassed over the weekend at the Lagos Airport by the NLC Vice-President, Comrade Amaechi Asugwuni, during the inauguration of the new National Administrative Council (NAC) of the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE).

Asugwuni declared that the electorate had the power to vote out such governors in the forthcoming general election in 2019 and urged them to use the power of their votes.

Asugwuni, however, noted that some governors had officially written to the NLC that they would implement the new minimum wage as soon as it went through the required processes.

“I am telling Nigerians that any governor that undermines the payment of minimum wage should be voted out. They are hiding under the governors’ forum not to pay, but they have confirmed to us and written us that they can pay the minimum wage. N30,000 is not even the money that can take anybody home. The President as a matter of urgency should transmit that minimum wage document to the National Assembly," he said.

MINIMUM WAGE: ANOTHER DIMENSION
- Our Governors told Nigerians they want a State Police, promising us they can fund & run a Police force better than the FG. We believed them.
- Nigerians ask them to Pay 30k only as minimum wage, they now say they won't because they don't have the resources to. We still believe them...
So with which resources do they exactly plan to fund their proposed "American-standard" state police?
Dear Nigerians, una mumu never do Good P.M

This minimum wage saga is just
Doing the right thing the wrong way

If the government increase minimum wage to 30k, with the economy of Nigeria now ehn, inflation will just swallow everything and the 30k will not even have any value, rather smaller denomination of the currency will go into extinction just like #5 naira note which doesn't have any purchasing power

The main point is for government to reduce price of commodities and rent and school fees shikina cry

The Nigerian youth on this forum are mostly shallow I swear.

What the NLC is suggesting, is it not logical?

If we can unite, there is nothing we can't achieve in this country. But because we are docile, with all the resources we have, we still encourage terrible and mediocre leaders.

Most comments above me just shut the NLC up without valid points. That is how shallow our youths have become.

God help us.

Good

If not for sheer wickedness, how many people are even employed?

Hoe many citizens are on payroll?

Woe betide any governor who wouldn't agree to pay the minimum wage.

If NLC had played their card well when they're in a better position to drive home their demand at the negotiation table, the clamour for voting out any governor against #30,000 minimum wage at this time shouldn't have been necessary but it's a pity that reverse is the case.
Once again, welcome to Nigeria politics.
