@POLITICSNGR

Information reaching the PoliticsNGR newsdesk on Monday reveals that the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC and the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS have embarked on a serious protest in Abuja.

The Protests was tagged "Save Education Rally". The groups are demanding an increase in funding for the Education sector.

NANS president, Danielson Akpan, told newsmen that the dwindling allocation of funding to the sector was saddening.

“The funding keeps dropping every year,” Mr Akpan said.

Similarly, the Academic Staff Union of Universities embarked on a strike on November 4 over issues including unpaid allowances and poor funding.

Wellour budget is N9trillion next year.

If ASUU and NLC want to get the 'adequate funding' from the original 2009 Agreement...that means government will spend N1.5trillion over the next one year....just on universities.

Good luck.

This people want us to spend close to 1.5 trillion more on civil servants?

That's close to 3.5 trillion every year... That's almost 70% of our revenue if not more

Universites are expensive.

As it is now...either government spends at least 1.5trillion or more on just universites....OR ......we raise fees.

Nigerians would STRONGLY PROTEST if fees go up. So...allocations need to be raised.

The problem is...where the money willcome from. Even if we cut the salaries of the Senators and Reps...at best we would get N500million.

The money can be gotten

We can tax out 30% of out GDP, that's would be over 35 trillion... Sure but are the government ready for that?

They protest should be channelled on ASUU to call -off the strike

Not making rubbish demands which is supposed to be the job of ASUU to FG

After the protest nothing to show for, Strike is still not yet over
