A simple video evidence with all the right actions  that will nail the lecturer was turned into a situation where the students has taken the laws into their hands. Just like @reptyle has stated, i really see the man winning this case if he has a very good lawyer.

I still repeat it, i am so sorry for that girl in particular because her name, picture and information is out now in the open and she is the prime target for a revenge from the other party. If it was well planned they would have  masked the face of the girl in that video and called her a different name. We are always in a hurry to do things and in the process lack adequate planning for our subsequent actions.

If this case is taken to the court of law or the police, the students would be in trouble. She should have planned it well. And i also felts she should reported to the police before they/she decided to take action,

I haven't seen the video, but from the posts I saw and the news I heard since Saturday (about 3 days ago) I don't think the lecturer was beaten. Also, he offered to pay some money and not the students extorting him. If you read the transcript above carefully, you would notice this:

Male voice 1: Judith, wey the check wetin e wan sign. E don sign am?

Meaning: Where is the cheque he (the lecturer) wanted to sign? Has he signed it? Please Note: The students were very open during this event and did not attempt to make any cover-up statements or actions. (Which some people on this forum find to be foolish)

The lecturer cannot make any claims of kidnapping or whatever, because he went to the girl's room on his own accord, got humiliated following an illegal agreement he made with his student (and failed to keep his bargain in the name of further blackmailing the student), offered to pay a bribe to the students as he noticed the whole event was being recorded (which would be another offence against the lecturer).

The girl doesn't need to continue any education in the same school(she already made up her mind before embarking on her actions), besides the lecturer obviously kept the student beyond her stipulated time (at least for his course).
This goes on in most universities in this country (I know of many cases) The lecturers continue to fail the students, especially female students even after the girls have submitted themselves so that they can continue having the students and passing the students to their cohorts. The ones I pity are those students who don't have "big" parents to fight for them or scare the lecturers away. So I really give kudos to this Judith for doing this.

Have you ever imagined students staying an extra 2-3 years after most of their mates have graduated, served, married and are earning salaries all because a loser wants to be having sex with her? When most of her mates would begin raising families, she would be there sleeping with broke-ass lecturers. Even for students who finished school normally, there would be a point towards the end of your university, you would feel a bit of shame asking your parents for money (and the girl was reading engineering-an at least five year course in Nigeria), so how would you expect this girl to face her home, her society forever, until the lecturer feels he is tired of her?

Let's be realistic please! This lecturer and others like him are Pure Failures!
Failure to adulthood
Failure to his profession
Failure to his family
Failure to being a parent and teacher
And the last but not the least, failure for [s]not being grown up in some very important places![/s] (just joking)

Anyway, this guy's case is closed, even if there were only clowns in the courtroom, he would have no case. Believe me!

That lecturer had no business being at that student's place. Many lecturers fail students for not sleeping with them. The investigation system in many schools is not helpful at all for students who report or try to report unwelcome advances or intimidation. The fear of being victimised by other lecturers keep the female victims quiet. These students went too far by asking LECTURER RANDY to sign a cheque and might just have bungled the opportunity to get him pay for what he has been doing.

I knew of a situation at my Uni where a female student complained of victimisation, the person who headed and actually instigated the complaint was a lecturer who 'specialises' in victimising female students(not kidding) who wanted the girl so badly and hated the other lecturer who was already 'doing the girl.

I hate the way these wicked lecturers get away with all these nonsense (including lecturers who fail students for not buying their worthless 'plagiarized' textbooks.

That was a very meaningless video; shows no evidence whatsoever other than the professor being held hostage and being forced to sign a check. He never admitted to doing anything on the tape. The tape is baseless and actually against the students' favor. Dumb!

In Nigeria, you'll lose your rights if you don't take it, how many times have students complained about sexual harrassment??
Isn't it a right as a student to pass just because he knows his stuff??
Isn't it a right for guys not to need to bribe lecturers??

If the lecturer takes advantage of the dead legal system in Nigeria to extort money off students while moralists like you turn the other way, you have no right to complain when the students take laws into their own hands.
In my opinion, the end justify the means . . . and more lecturers need to be named, shamed and extorted till this stops.

I'm shocked at this video, how it was carried out and even the "actors". I feel the foolish girl did not hear the story of the LASU girl who blackmailed her lecturer in an hotel, that one was even more gruesome than this, she almost lost her life, because cultist just started threatning her,

With all due respect no one is trying to be a moralist but in serving these lecturers back in their own cup of tea, this should be done wisely. My gross is they can still deal with these lecturers in whatever way without putting themselves also in danger. To you, is this the proper way of collecting evidence? You can always get back at these lecturers without exposing yourself at the end of the day.

Complaining without evidence to back it up?
I am with you on those student right and if a lecturer is trying to scuttle that then you have every right to fight back but in a civilized manner at first.
If the legal system is dead then the onus falls on the victim to create punishments that will deter these lecturers from towing that part but definitely not this kind we are addressing here.
There are better ways to deal with lecturers because of their powerful network. We really need to think outside the box in other to curb this menace.

How are we sure that it was not a set up? Many of you are blaming the lecturer what about the female students who keep harassing lecturers by their behaviour both inside and outside the lecture rooms? All those involved in harassing the lecturer as well as the lecturer should be arrested. There are procedures to follow if the female student feels cheated and not this babaric that she and her cohorts carried out on the lecturer. Lecturers beware! Do not go to females house for whatsoever reasons, let them come to you.
