The honourable member representing Ahoada East Constituency II in the Rivers State House of Assembly; High Chief (Hon) Ehie Edison; Eze Ugboji Ekpeye I in collaboration with the apex youth body in Upata Kingdom; Upata Youths Council (UYC) has commenced youths empowerment and skills acquisition programme which cuts across the six (6) wards in Constituency II and the twenty one towns and communities in Upata Kingdom.



Edison Ehie Empowerment Program

The mission behind this initiative is to address the issues of violence, cultism, youth restiveness and unemployment, promote peace and encourage self-reliance among the youths.

The programme which kicked off with the monitoring of the process of nomination of beneficiaries by the committee is geared towards ensuring all-inclusiveness. Among the communities toured so far include Oshiugbokor, Odiabidi, Okporowo, and Okoma 2.

The president of Upata Youths Council; Comrade Livingstone Alali while speaking in Oshiugbokor community expressed immense joy at the commencement of the programme by appreciating the project initiated by Hon Ehie Edison, adding that the people are happy with the initiative and will continue to render their undiluted support.

Comrade Alali also charged the beneficiaries to take advantage of this ample opportunity before them by showing commitment and dedication to ensure proficiency. He also appealed other political leaders to borrow a leaf from Hon Ehie Edison’s human capital development initiative.
