Oyinlola Declares Interest In Osun Senatorial Ticket ! by wales(m): 6:30am On Jul 30, 2010
Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has laid to rest speculations about his next political moves after the expiration of his tenure next year as he has declared his ambition to go to the Senate.

The governor, at a rally witnessed by bigwigs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), top political functionaries and people from all walks of life in Okuku, his hometown, formally declared his intention to vie for the senatorial ticket of Osun Central on the platform of PDP.
Oyinlola said his intention to go to the Senate was to fulfill his earlier desire to represent his people at the National Assembly, before he was drafted into the governorship race in 2003.

According to him, given his experience and his connection nationwide, he had no doubt that he would give the people of the senatorial district, responsive and responsible representation at the Senate, if elected. He thanked party leaders, traditional rulers and others whom he said God had used to bring him to politics and to ensure the success of his administration so far.

The governor allayed fears of partiality in the selection of candidates by the PDP for elective posts, adding that the party would provide a level playing field for all.
He urged party members to support those the party would field for elections, stressing that no matter the ambition of an individual and efforts he put in to realising it, only God could make such a dream come true.

Earlier, party leaders, including PDP National Vice-Chairman, (South-West), Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo and the state Chairman of the party, Alhaji Ademola Razak, praised Oyinlola for his efforts in taking Osun to a greater height and his contributions to the growth of the party.

It would take a Governor a lot of docking and diving to make $1.7 million dollars easily, even if he manages to pull it trough, the hanger-ON's and facilitators would have to be settled and their big gobs quiten with sweetners from time to time. Meanwhile as a Senator one is entitled to a handsome salary of guranteed $1.7 million dollars a year, which u don't have to share with some unscrupulous men and women, it is your's and your misses to spend as u wish.

No wonder why a lebanese National who had plans of representating Kano State is aggreived accusing Nigerians of racism, even if I where a white English man I would'nt want to miss out on this senatorial largesse for anything the returns is better than some lottery takings.

I know which one I would take giving the choice between a Governor and a Senator in Nigeria, a Senator also has the added advantage and legal backing of our constitution to run a countless times  as long as he / she wins elections.

No wonder Mr Governor is running for this office, would Mr Incumbent give up his seat without a fight, well,  we shall wait and see.
