Sule Lamido, former governor of Jigawa State, has narrated how the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) forced some opposition members to join its fold.

Mr Lamido, a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), spoke on Thursday while inaugurating eight election campaign committee in Dutse, Jigawa State capital.

He alleged that the ruling party is using alleged corruption indictment to hunt members of the opposition who have refused to join them.

The former governor said this was the tool used to force Senator Godswill Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom and Musiliu Obanikoro, former defence minister to leave the party.

Messrs Akpabio and Obanikoro were members of the PDP until their defection to the ruling party. While the former governor defected in August, the former minister abandoned the party for APC last year.

“Now in this current political dispensation, if you steal public funds and ‘stash’ them in the bank and you are a member of opposition, they will tell you to come back to APC,” the former governor said.

“They will forgive you, but if you refuse, they will prosecute you. That is how Messrs Akpabio and Obanikoro were forced to leave PDP for APC,” he added.

Lamido also condemned the TraderMoni scheme spearheaded by vice president, Yemi Osinbajo.

“Nigerians are suffering. For three years, they did not do anything. Now that they sense defeat, they have started giving out money.

“This is not the type of politics we learnt. Previously, it is the people who financed their own cause and if a leader disagrees with the people, they will call him to order. Now, politics has become a business venture for politicians to make money,” Mr Lamido said.

He called on PDP members in the state who left the party for the APC to have a rethink and return to the party while urging those remaining to woo the state governor to the PDP.

“Also it is your responsibility to go and woo Governor Muhammad Badaru to PDP because he will not survive the task ahead,” he said.

Mr Lamido charged the members of the committee to work for the success of PDP in the state and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Of course who doesn’t know that Akpabio and other APC members are in APC to be free from Buhari’s corruption indictment?

Meanwhile, despite all the anti corruption noise, Transparency International slammed Buhari’s government with the worst corruption record, see below:

Absolutely correct. This fight against graft is not a sincere war but a charade to hound opposition element into political submission.

Checkout the unabating high profile corruption by persons in the APC and yet the woeful anti-corruption index rating of Nigeria despite the propaganda by the govt.

".......In 2012, Nigeria was placed at 139th position, In 2014, Nigeria gained 3 steps and was placed at 136th position.Under Buhari, Nigeria has lost many positions down to 148th..."

Its normal for every tyrant in power to consolidate his stronghold on powers. Tyrant Buhari has always been a wicked hypocrite who has no good intentions for anyone not worshipping him and his cabals.

He never loved Nigeria cos he's not yet understood what inclusive leadership is all about in a highly sophisticated secular nation. To him, everyone is his slaves captured by his soldiers and as such no single one should ever criticise or oppose him.

Nigeria is due for splitting or restructuring so that the South can move at its own pace while the Sharia loving core North can also live in peace as Abubakar Shekau would have been appeased.

Mallam Lamido I assure you that Akpabios case with the EFCC is still very much alive. If in doubt, ask Orji Uzor Kalu that thought defecting and praising Buhari would change his ongoing trial, or Joshua Dariye, an ex governor that was convicted despite his being a member of the APC. Or Jolly Nyame, another ex governor and member of the APC that has been similarly been sent to jail for corruption.
Obanikoro entered into a plea bargain with the EFCC to forfeit everything he stole to the government which he has done.
As a matter of fact, the EFCC has prosecuted and convicted more APC members than PDP members. Buhari is color and party blind when it comes to the rule of law and corruption.
Someone should tell Lamido to return all the money he stole to the FG and enter into a plea bargain with the EFCC. That's the only way! All this public display of arrogance wont do him any good. Or else he'll end up like Metuh and FFK that refused to return what they stole and are crying on TV about not being able to buy even toilet roll after the EFCC swooped on their accounts and assets.

post devoid of reasoning. So Lamido is in essence saying ALL PDP Chiefs are THIEVES!

It is natural for thieves to live with perpetual fear of prison.
