I want to enlighten you about Dawanau international grain market in
Nigeria which is the largest grain market in Africa. I have several years
experience as grains source agent and trader and have done so much
research in Dawanau market to gather the information I have today.
Nigeria is blessed with the availability of agricultural resources and have
one of the largest grain market in the world which is the most busiest
grain market in Africa called Dawanau International market located in
Dawakin Tofa local government area of Kano state. In southern Nigeria
Very few know about Dawanau international market but the market is
very popular in northern part of the country. To be a good trader
whether locally or internationally I advise you to have a strong
connection in Dawanau market. Different local trader from different
markets in different states like Bakori , Funtua, Daura, Danja, Makarf,
Shuarin, Hadeja market and so many other markets in the northern
region of Nigeria come to sell their products in Dawanau market.

Today Dawanau international market is the hub of grains and seeds
trading across the world, it has about 500 traders with about 20,000
shops(said by one trader) and several warehouses. Dawanau market is
very popular both in the country and outside. It is not only serving the
state economy, it is serving those of other states, countries in Africa
and global economy. From Dawanau they export to other countries of
the world. Most of the agro-allied products that are being exported
from Nigeria come from different villages and town of many states in
the country to Dawanau international market, from there they would
be taken to sea port for export. There are also stations where goods
and products are being taken by road to as far as central Africa Republic, South Africa, Libya, Chad, Togo, Cameron and other other
countries in Africa from where they will take the goods to other
regions. From Dawanau international market product are being taken
to countries like sudan and other sub-saharan regions. Just take a look
at what is happening in Dawanau you will agree that it is the largest in
Africa.

Goods are transported to all over west Africa, Africa and the world at large everyday. Foreign traders from India, Dubai, China, Britain, America, Germany, Netherland and other countries also patronize the market. There are several items in the market e.g soya beans, peanut, maize, sorghum, millet, cassava, Moringa, Hibiscus fower, Sesame seed, Beans and other several items which can be supply to local and any international warehouses at very large quantty. Foodstuf items are brought to dawanau from diferent states of the Northern region. Grains and other items are brought here from Maiduguri, Bauchi, Jigawa, Katsina, Niger, Kebbi, Zamfara, Nasarawa, Adamawa, Kaduna, Yola, Kogi. Also, neighboring countries like Niger and Cameron bring coffee, beans and other items to the market and on daily basis take other product here back to home.
Re: Dawanau International Market Kano: The Largest Grain Market In Africa by nizzyong(m): 11:55pm On Dec 25, 2018
On daily basis people come here from Lagos, Benin, Port-harcourt,
Ibadan and other part of the country. We sell with scale and a bag of
grains/seeds is 100kg i.e 10bags make one ton. The fluctuation of the
product price is per kilogram everyday due to increase rate of change in
supply and demand in the market, don’t expect to buy a product in
morning at a particular price and get it at that same price in the
evening. Also, there is availability of trucks to transport any product to
any part of the country e.g 30tonnes trailer which can carry about
300bags of product with 100kg per bag of grains each. The transportation cost is charged per bag and loading of the bags on to the trailer is also considered.
Business transactions worth several billion of naira are done on daily
basis at Dawanau market because of the influx of the local and
international market. Dollars is flying everyday in dawanau, however
am ready to help anyone who is ready to catch the dollars.

Honestly, this is a good opportunity to leverage on this business. Apparently, the height of scrupulous characters has dampened the spirit of those who wants to embrace enterprenuership in this Country.

Howbeit, I still believe there is room to make something good out of this. I will be asking these questions.......can we form a formidable team and go for this?

* Buy in group and sell in group (Majorly grains)
*Share the cost and profit based on capital
*Carry out an almost impeccable market survey
*Delegate task and follow up based on strength
*Draw a chart on the seasons (Peak and Off)
*Chart up prices in peak and off season especially through Price statistics
*Above all, sign an agreement and legalize this to avoid irregularities, scams etc

I strongly believe this can work. If we walk the talk, reason together and plan without ill intent.........this goal will be attainable.

I do not have the expertise in this grains business but I do hope that with well meaning Nigerians it can scale high.

Can this take off? If yes.......let's do it.
