According to Senator Shehu Sani from Kaduna State, below are the reasons for extreme poverty in Northern Nigeria.



1. Neglect of Agriculture and dependence on oil revenues;


2. Decadence and collapse of public education;


3. Fatalism;Septic extremism and toxic inter ethnic violence;


4. Abandoning the moral and ethical standards and economic vision and legacies of Ahmadu Bello;


5. Culpability of successive Northern leaders in power;entrenched Handoutsbculture;


6. Pliant attitudinal incumbrance of refusing to challenge leaders and hold them to account or the Slavery of loyalty or inimical subservience;


7. Decades of systemic marginalization,emasculation and oppression and


8. Institutional contempt for the poor by the regional elites.

That number 6 is probably one of the main reasons. Educated Northerners like quotasystem know these but they will continue to act the ostrich because that condition helps them to hold on to political power. They are so proud of that political power and they will do anything to make sure it remains that way even to their own detriment.

They continually allow God's beautifuly created minds to go to waist all in the name of political power.

I agree with Shehu Sani, but the major problems I witnessed was how some Imams manipulated with their brains.

They don't sit down to reason for a minute if what the Imam is actually pushing them to do is right or wrong... They just follow the order like zombies.

Most of the religious leaders over there incites violence by preaching "hate" and intolerance, which leads to the unceasing mayhem and chaos their by causing little development and extreme poverty.

Lol. Religious fanaticism tribal bigotry and high grade illiteracy are the sure specimens needed to birth extreme poverty. Unfortunately, these traits are inbuilt in the DNA of an average northerner so it's safe to say they'll keep hosting poverty in their region for a long time.

All these are outcomes of a bigger issue. The federal system where states collect money monthly irrespective of any work done is the cause of all listed 8. Even, Obama cannot fix this system.

Num 4 is a truckload of political bs. The legacies of Ahmadu Bello are tribalism, religion and poverty coupled with a large dose of ethnic supremacist. He should have mentioned aminu Kano instead
