The first 2020 Toyota Supra to roll off the production line just sold for ₦763million ($2.1m) at the 48th Annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction . All the proceeds would go to the American Heart Association and Bob Woodruff Foundation, a non-profit organizations that helps out veterans and service members who were affected by September 9/11. 





The auctioned car ,one of 1500 Launch Editions that starts at ₦20m ($56,180), is painted in matte gray and comes with an engine cover signed by Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda. 

That means the winning bidder is paying 38 times the base price for the first-ever 2020 Supra Sportscar. The deal also allow the unnamed bidder a custom racing suit ,two VIP passes to the Toyota Owners 400 NASCAR race in Richmond, a chance to drive the pace car with NASCAR driver and commentator Michael Waltrip.



The new fifth-generation sportscar was revealed last week by former Formula One racing driver and current Toyota Gazoo Racing driver ,Fernando Alonso, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

It is developed in partnership with Germany's BMW and Toyota's Gazoo Racing Division, and shares most of its engineering with the upcoming 2019 BMW Z4.

It was designed in close collaboration with BMW, and shares a lot of parts with the 2019 Z4 Roadster.

The Supra has a cult following in the USA Sir. Worldwide too. The price had been set when it was unveiled a week ago. It would cost about 49,990 USD for the I6 version.

The first vehicle manufactured for many new models is often offered at auction to raise money for charity, just like the new 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, which sold for 1.1 million USD at a charity auction.

That will be a criminal offense. I’m sure Toyota won’t want to be embroiled in such. Personally, like millions of other folks around the world, I have a cult following if Supra way back from the 1991 model. The ‘99 model is especially scarce you can’t just pick it off the streets. The car is one of Toyota’s RWD that can be so modded and yet reliable.

Fans have been clamoring for a new model and this prayer answered after 20 years. As for the buyer, it’s a win win scenario for him. He has the cash, he supported charity, he’s still going to use and enjoy the car and say 10 years down the line, he can auction that car for 20 times the price he paid for it now.

In my opinion (and if I had that sort of cash), it’s a no brainer

Toyota Celica was once like this....Don't spend all your life collecting world treasures.
