Israel’s military has posted a short video on Twitter, purporting to show its attacks on Syrian anti-air batteries. Israel has been targeting “Iranian” forces inside Syria, while warning Damascus not to retaliate.

The grainy, 28-second video shows what appears to be missile attacks on Pantsir anti-air systems operated by the Syrian military.

Damascus has claimed that Israel’s latest attempt to target “Iranian Quds” forces was thwarted by Syrian air defenses.


In a brief statement on Twitter, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) warned the Syrian Army “against attempting to harm Israeli forces or territory.”

The Israeli air raid was carried out just hours after Tel Aviv launched a similar attack on targets inside Syria. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, four Israeli F-16s launched guided missiles into Syrian territory. Seven missiles were intercepted, with no damage reported on the ground.

Israel has repeatedly attacked “Iranian” targets inside Syria, with the stated goal of preventing Iranian forces from gaining a foothold in the country. Israel usually remains tight-lipped about its attacks, but in a recent interview, outgoing IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot boasted that “thousands of targets” have been hit in “near-daily” strikes, with 2,000 bombs dropped in 2018 alone.

Thanks for that video. I did not even watch the video you posted before I wrote what i did up there and it tallies 100% with what was said in the video. PantSir remains the most hated Air defense systems by the israelis and the most formidable one at this point in the Syrian inventory while S-300 is warming up the cooler .

The IDF and its planes is avoiding crossing into Syria airspace, not that they fear Syrian airforce, but they know that when Russia speaks a word, it backs it up with action. And the fact they have stayed out of the Syrian airspace since the Downing of the plane shows they understood what the Russian armed forces in Syria can do. If that is no deterrent, then you tell me what is. But again, it's all between Israel and Iran, not Russia. So stop expecting Russia to attack or counter attack when Israel attacks from Lebanese airspace.

FYI, the S-300 delivered to Syria is not yet operational. It will take months for them to master its use.

The only modern SAM system operated by the Syrian missile forces is the Tor M1 and Pantsir systems, which are short range systems for intercepting missiles and drones at closer distance, not for targeting planes at high altitudes. The only operational long range SAM system in the hands of the Syrians is the S-200, a 60 year old Sam for that matter.
So, I just don't understand the wailings from the Wailers we are seeing here now. May be we will understand better later when the S-300 starts operating by the Syrians. Since they have been able to down so many incoming missiles with just their Pantsir and Tor 1 systems, I wonder how the scenario would look like by the time the S-300 starts firing, especially with its ability to lock on 8 targets at the same time while covering the entire Israeli airspace. It is then some of us will understand why Netanyahu have begged Russia for the past 5 years to not give the system to Syria.

Truth be told, Israel will stop at nothing to crush or discourage the Iranian threat close to its borders, but in doing so, the situation will most likely escalate to a dangerous proportion that could spiral out of control.
