One of the few living african musical legends....His voice,lyrical prowess and even how he mesmerizes the guitar marvels me....'Todii comes to mind' I remember his song with the black mambaza.....May his gentle soul rest in peace!

Legendary Zimbabwean musician, Oliver Mtukudzi has died today at the age of 66.

He was rated as one of the top ten richest African musicians by Forbes in 2018.

You probably know his song, Mkuru Mkuru if you listen to the Saturday and Sunday sports shows on Nigeria Info FM. It is played virtually every Saturday and Sunday on the show.

I can't find the original, but here is a cover of the song by a fan.

Chineke, this guy is wonderful. His guitar strumming and vocals are profound and evocative of a time when African musicians meant something. Not these two bit halla artists that drop one EP and post photo on the gram with their new car.

I grew up with Wu Tang, Soul 2 Soul etc...

But my ear matured to listen to Oliver, Fela, Brenda Fassie, Ruy Mingas, Hauwa Drame etc...
