The Nigerian Bar Association says it still recognises Justice Walter Onnoghen as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

It also ordered its members across the country to boycott courts on Tuesday and Wednesday in protest against President Muhammadu Buhari’s suspension of Onnoghen last Friday.

Buhari had immediately sworn in Justice Tanko Mohammed as the acting CJN.

But rising from its Monday emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee comprising its branch chairmen and past presidents and the executive committee of the association, the NBA said due process was not followed by Buhari in suspending Onnoghen and swearing in Muhammad in acting capacity.

Among other decisions reached at the meeting, the NBA set up a committee led by former presidents of the association, Chief Wole Olanipekun and Abubakar Mahmud, to liaise with lawyers serving in the Buhari administration with a view to finding a solution to the problem.

CJN holds office at the pleasure of the Nigerian constitution and can only be removed from office by death or on attainment of age 70 whichever occurs first or by impeachment by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which requires a super majority of the members of the Nigerian Senate

Tinubu, APC and the cabal knowy that the supreme court has the possibility of hindering their agenda in these elections with Onnoghen as CJN

APC cannot win 10 States in a free and fair election, so their only hope is rigging and they need to prepare their ground by reposting CPs and putting in their own loyalties in all areas that's vital for the elections

A lot has been looted by APC in just 4 years, so they need to do everything humanly possible to remain in power to at least cover some of these loots

These desperations are all connected to the forthcoming elections

Of course it's expected to protect the image of the institution you belong.

I'm not surprised about the NBA.

But they're a lesser concern and probably irrelevant here when it comes to this situation.

I would have been concerned if this was NJC talking but unfortunately it's not.

Fact remains, the President took a calculated and lawful decision and it is highly commendable.

Not the Boko Haram Patron that Buhari want Nigeria to accept as CJN .

There is nothing good that can ever ever comes from the North.

All the evil and woes that betide our country are from the Fulani North. Just take a look at this scary Chimp called Acting CJN that only remind me of Osama bin laden of cursed memory..!

Buhari no try atol

The President of the NBA is an accused person currently standing trial for fraud, theft and money laundering.

It is only befitting that he stands with a disgraced corrupt Thief Justice of Nigeria.

Our leaders are losing it.

The citizens are losing it.

Very soon, Nigeria will be an asylum ( if it isn't one already).

Just look at us. In 2019, this is Nigeria's daunting reality. The so called giants.

It's a shame.

Way to go. I'm in support of their decision.

Normal process of removing the CJN should be followed if he's guilty of infraction of the constitution.

Among our problems as a nation, the topmost two are lawyers and judges.

Once these two are dealt with corruption will become history, domestic abuse will become minimal, public officials will stop stealing and people will work hard in order to be able to meet up, meaning that productivity will grossly improve and the nation will become an economic giant!

Military will stay in their barracks, and national assembly will no longer attract crooked elements. And of course, money bags will not be able to hijack the electoral process to become presidential candidates!

What's more? SAN will be scrapped. Doctors will start earning better that drivers. ASUU will not need to strike again, because the massive budget of the National Assembly will be turned into Education and Health votes.

And NBA will no longer be doing gra gra because there will be no need for it!
