The word " PERILOUS" came from the Greek word " chalepos [ khal-ep-oss ] which means hard, savage, difficult, dangerous, painful, fierce, grievous, hard to deal with. The word describes a society that is barren of virtue, but abounding with vices.
   Apostle Paul really made it clear in 2 Timothy 3: 1 ) " But know this , that in the last days perilous times will come." He went further to outline how perilous men will act and behave in this last days ( perilous time ) vs 2-5. In the last days men and women will love themselves and money above GOD. In addition, they will embrace a superficial form of religion and deny the real life changing power of the gospel." Having the form of godliness but denying its power".
   Are you one of the perilous man or woman?.

The above aptly descibes most pentecostal churches today, it also adequately reveals that the prosperity gospel they preach is false and inspired by their god mamon.

A trap that the evil one has set for the church of today is how can the gospel be presented to a modern world.
Repentance, salvation and eternal life is now quickly becoming unpopular. Modern man has being made to embrace a positive image of himself. Self image, Self worth,Self esteem have become more popular concepts in the modern day gospel. The psychological self help and self improvements are the order of the day. Hence creating an atmosphere of selfishness and greed which is one of the 7 deadly sins.

Yes it is essential for the modern man to be able to relate and apply the gospel to his/her psychological sense of being and identity in a dynamic day by day, moment by moment impact. It will be wrong and insensitive to prone this need off as carnal thinking. The modern man looks at the church and what do they see. They see a setup of people who have found their identity and loyality in theological formulation. They see such people as lacking freedoom, self satisfied, bound up in religion and a comfort zone.

Todays generation are no more the wait and see type. They are the NOW generation. They want something that will be effective NOW.They are looking for something beyond themselves; something with direction and destiny, meaning and purpose; something active, dynamic and fulfilling

However caution is needed so that core fundamental christian values like endurance, courage, patience, sharing, godliness are not thrown to the back burner. Hence allowing a RATE RACE culture to develop. Yes the Gospel can be repackaged, but the contents should be left intact.
