I Shall Not Tolerate Further Insults - Igwe Ben Emeka Tells Igwe Alex Edozieuno by UmuEri(m): 2:02pm On Feb 14, 2019
You're An Unintelligent Traditional Ruler Of Suspicious Standing And I Shall No Longer tolerate further Insults From You - Igwe Benneth Emeka (Oke-ebo II of Umueri) Tells Igwe Alex Edozieuno.

Awka - Uche Ndive

HRM Igwe Sir Benneth Emeka JP Okebo II of Umueri has responded to the alleged suspension letter written by Igwe Alex Edozieuno, the traditional ruler of Mkpunando Aguleri-Otu.

In a strong worded letter exclusively obtain by Akikolegit correspondent and personally signed by HRM Igwe Sir Benneth Emeka JP (Okebo II of Umueri) said Igwe Alex Edozieuno has no locus to even parade himself as a genuine Traditional Ruler In the first place, wondering how he can head Anambra East Council of Traditional since he was not a geniune Royal Father?

"We are in receipt of your letter to the head of the Traditional Institution of Umueri Okebo, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Benneth Emeka, (Oke-ebo II), Igwe Umueri. In the letter dated the 31st day of January but received on the 6th day of February, 2019, You set out in a conscious voyage of character assassination of Igwe Emeka and planting seeds of discord not only between Igwe Emeka and his subjects but also between him, his fellow Igwes and the Anambra State Government. We will reply your defamatory letter by attending to the paragraphs thereto seriatim."

"We noticed your intentional address of Igwe Benneth Izuchukwu Emeka as “Igwe Ben. Izuchukwu Ameke”. It is obvious that this misnomer is not out of inadvertence ,but deliberately intended and carefully meant to insult the Oke-ebo II in order to give credence to your unguarded assertion that Igwe Emeka is from Uromi in Edo State.

"Our foregoing conclusion is borne out of the fact that Igwe Emeka’s name has been in public domain for so many years even before his ascension to the ancient Traditional Stool of Umueri Oke-ebo a few years back. It is therefore baffling to say the least that a community Leader as learned as you supposedly are or should be could be making “mistakes” in the spelling of an Igbo name as common as “Emeka” if not for the malicious intent of disparaging the bearer of that name in this instance ,the Okebo II of Umueri. We would have disregarded your letter in its entirety but for the fact that the title “Oke-ebo II’’ of Umueri was added. May we, however ,warn that such outright insult to the occupant of the traditional stool of Umueri Okebo shall not be tolerated subsequently."

Igwe Benneth Emeka reminded Igwe Alex Edozieuno that he had always been a gentleman par excellence with a high level of integrity therefore should not be addressed with some untoward words the way Igwe Alex Edozieuno did.
"On your claim that Igwe Emeka “grabbed” kola-nuts from the hands of Chief Anthony Oli (SSA to the Governor, Anambra State,we wish to state that we take serious exception to such insult to Igwe Emeka. The word “grab” is definitive of a primitive and uncultured barbarian whose only response to discomfiting situations is a reflex resort to fisticuffs. Igwe Emeka has been a man of high level integrity and a gentleman par excellence. It is totally unacceptable to the traditional institution of Umueri that his person be debased in such untoward manner."

[/b]"Igwe Emeka only did the reasonable thing a man of integrity should do when supposedly wise but regrettably dubious traditional leaders set out to distort culture, tradition and history just to suit their dubious intents."[/b]

"One of the commonest traditional practices surrounding the breaking of Kola nuts is the fact that it is the man of the house (Nna-nwe-uno/di-bi-uno) that breaks the kola-nuts in his domain. A man’s domain remains his domain even if when it has been inhabited by strangers or visitors. This is the reason why the son of the soil is always sought to break Kola-nut in every formal gathering of the Igbo (even in weddings)! That the government, church or other institution is in possession of a portion of land does not deprive the traditional owner this right to break kola-nuts. We are convinced that this fact is very clear to you at least in your capacity as a traditional ruler but you chose to distort this age long tradition for the reasons you have started exhibiting in your letter. May we notify you that Igwe Emeka breached no known traditional or customary practice, rather it was you who maliciously usurped Igwe Emeka’s position and supplanted another in his stead. We see your so-called “Suspension of Igwe Emeka” as a sheer brazen daylight palace coup."

"We wish to inform you that it is of no consequence whatsoever since you do not possess any iota of authority to suspend any traditional ruler suo motu. We are still wondering whether the Anambra East Traditional Rulers’ Council is composed of a single member “Igwe Alex Edozieuno”? To the extent that he alone will convene a meeting, draw up the agenda to suspend an Igwe from the council, draft the letter of suspension and serve same without the input of any other council member."
"On the fact of Igwe Edozieuno sailing across the Omambala River to attend the visit of the Governor; we really fail to understand what negative in that assertion that is assuming without conceding that it came from Igwe Emeka. The questions to be asked are"

Is Aguleri-Otu not across Omambala River?

Is Igwe Alex Edozieuno not the traditional ruler of Aguleri-Otu?

Is the Palace of Igwe Alex Edozieuno not situate within Aguleri-Otu?

"If the answers to the above questions are in the affirmative, one wonders why Igwe Alex should be taking so much offence at such statement of fact"?
The letter further stated that Igwe Benneth Emeka' s young age on the Traditional Stool of Umueri does not and will never translate to loss of his rights as the traditional ruler of Umueri, warning that every right, Authority, powers and privileges as an occupant of that stool must be respected unless he chooses to delegate such just like "Nna-nwe-uno"

"On the age of Igwe Emeka on the traditional Stool of Umueri; It is stunning that such shallow reasoning is coming from such hallowed quarters! That a man is over a hundred years of age does not accord him the right of the first son (okpala) in another man’s house neither does it translate to his headship of another’s household. Igwe Emeka’s young age on the Traditional Stool of Umueri does not and will never translate to the loss of his rights as the traditional ruler of Umueri. All privileges, authorities, powers and rights accruing to the occupant of that stool belong to him and him alone unless he chooses to delegate such just like an “Nna-nwe-uno” may choose to delegate the breaking of kola-nut presented in his domain to his visitor."
Igwe Benneth Emeka further reminded Igwe Alex Edozieuno that they use to be only one Town known as Aguleri as at 1972, and the fact that accessibility to government warranted the cosmetic division for administrative purposes shall not be thwarted into a historic fact.

"On the towns (or communities) involved in the assignment of the property known as Anambra East Local Government Secretariat to the County Council; may we remind you that Aguleri-Uno community, Enugu-Aguleri community, Eziagulu-Otu community and Mkpunando-Otu community are all villages in the town known to the rest of Anambra, South Eastern Nigeria, Igbo, Nigeria, Africa and the rest of the world as AGULERI! The fact that accessibility to government warranted the cosmetic divisions for administrative purposes shall not be thwarted into a historical fact. It is crystal clear that there was only one Aguleri in 1972. It is therefore instructive to note that only three towns Umueri, Aguleri and stranger elements were in existence when Otuocha Division was created. Umuoba Anam has never laid claim to any land in the hinterland because they know the proper history of Otuocha environs not the contorted version Igwe Alex Edozieuno will like to confuse the lay with."

[/b]"No land is “No Man’s Land” even when such land has been given out to the government for governmental purposes."[/b]

In conclusion Igwe Sir Benneth Emeka warned Igwe Alex Edozieuno to mind his volatile community and stop trying to incite Umueri people whom he said were peace loving people

"On your directives to Umueri Town to overthrow their traditional ruler; we find that laughable knowing full well that Umueri is populated by peace loving people not easily incited by unintelligent directives of traditional rulers of suspicious standings. Umueri has no business with you, Igwe Edozieuno; neither have you any business with Umueri. We therefore advise that you concentrate on administering your volatile community and desist from exporting restiveness to other communities."
“O maalu asu sua n’ikwe”

Speaking with one of our correspondent via the telephone, Mr. Tochuckwu Henry Chidebelu one of the aids of Igwe Benneth Emeka told our correspondent that it was rather unfortunate that Igwe Alex Edozieuno could embark on character assassination of his principal, Igwe Benneth Emeka, pointing out that Omambala region is a volatile area and a supposed traditional ruler like Igwe Alex Edozieuno should be mindful of his actions and utterances in other not to incite violence.

"I have read what Igwe Alex Edozieuno wrote on Sun newspaper and Vanguard newspaper about Igwe Umueri, my quick reaction is that this is an unnecessary distraction and most unfortunate. Omambala area is very volatile area and people like Igwe Alex Edozieuno should be coming out with ideas on how to entrench peace rather than embark on character assassination and imaginary suspension of Igwe Benneth Emeka."

According to him, "what we need now is for everyone to rally round the Governor of Anambra State to make sure that peace returns to Omambala region, and that is what Igwe Benneth Emeka Has been doing over the years since ascending the throne, instead of one traditional ruler invading another traditional ruler's territory on a selfish but regrettable voyage. Indeed, it does appear that 'never leaning is a never ending trend'" he added.
