[b]To be what we are, and to become what we are capable of becoming, is the only end of life.” – Robert Louis Stevenson
A life well lived, is a life of fulfilled potentials; the ability to become all we are capable of becoming is the great end of life.
A dream is simply a mental picture of what you desire to become. Dreams are designed to be greater than us, they are designed to show the “better us” at a particular time. If it is something not worth desiring, it cannot be said to be a dream then.
There are three groups of people in life; those who have no dreams, those that dream but do not take any form of action to realize their dreams and those who take actions to fulfill their dreams. The third group of people usually winds up successful, while others watch to tell the story and continue in a life struggle. How do you get your dreams fulfilled?
Believe it: A dream needs a believer, someone who is totally sold out to the dreams. In order for you to be able to achieve your dream, you will have to believe in it even if others do not share your passion.
You will need to make up your mind that no matter what the circumstances are, you have the ability to make your dream come true. Not until you get to this level will you have the power to realize your dreams. A dream is useless if you, the conceiver, does not believe in it. It is as good as not having it at all.
Love it: For you to live your dreams, you need to love it passionately. Just like believing in your dreams, you have to be crazy about your dream and nurture it till it come to fulfillment. A dream is just like a baby that needs love from his/her parents.
When you show more dedication to your dream, you are showing love to it. When you love your dream, other people’s opinions will not even matter. There are so many people going no where and they will take much delight in destroying your dreams so that you can be on the same level with them. You need to guard your dream jealously from these people.
If you don’t do this, you will find out that in no mean time, your dream would have died a premature death and you will be on the same level as them.
Monitor It:  Every child needs to be monitored as he/she passes through all the stages of growth. The same applies to your dream. Your dream needs constant monitoring. How do you do that? Dreams are monitored by what I call “Dream Gauges” which are goals. Goal setting are the yardstick for measuring your dreams. You need to set goals in order to keep you focused on achieving your ultimate aim in life, your dream.
Goals are like landmarks, they give you direction and purpose in life. If you have the mind to build a house (a dream), you set parameters and strategies to completing the house, stage by stage (goals), from drawing the plan to laying the foundation etc. If you don’t set the strategies, you cannot realize your dream.
It is important to note that every goal should have a deadline. If it does not have a target for completion, then it is not a goal. Your goals should work in harmony toward the ultimate goal, your dream, of making you set for life.
Monitor your dream; see what you have achieved in the past days or weeks or even months/years. When you do this, you will be able to see clearly the picture of where you are going, what you ought to be doing and what you are not supposed to do.
As you do all these, I want to let you know that achieving your dreams will be a matter of time. Just work patiently on it and the result will eventually show up.
This is to your success in life.
