Akpabio To Niger Deltans: Don't Vote For Those Planning To Sell NNPC by kahal29: 8:11am On Feb 21, 2019
The National Coordinator, Presidential Support Committee, Senator Godswill Akpabio has insisted that considering the achievements of the President Muhammadu Buhari -led administration in office, Nigeria has no other better alternative than to give him another term.

Akpabio, who spoke with Journalists in Abuja, urged the South South people to reconsider their stand in planning to vote for the party that wants to sell the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC), and its other assets.

Atiku Abubakar, the PDP Presidential Candidate, has vowed to sell the NNPC, if voted into power, to break what he called ‘mafia’ in the corporation.

But Senator Akpabio said it will not be in the interest of the Niger Delta people for NNPC to be sold.

“Yes I believe Nigerians can compare the difference between apple and orange. The reality is that this president has done very well considering the fact that he was able to take Nigeria out of recession.

“He met ongoing projects on ground, such as the airports and the railways. He completed and put them to use. Nigerians are clamoring for change, better health care, better educational facilities and all those things cannot happen when you spend almost 80 percent of resources on recurring expenses like pension, salary arrears.

“So we must commend the President and of course, if you take a look at what is happening on the Lagos-Ibadan railway, you will be very impressed. Take a look at the Abuja-Kano railway, some people now travel with rail to the North.

“The power sector has improved from 2,500MW to 7000MW. So many things are visible and the enabling environment is there in terms of law and order. The fight against corruption has really been intensified and the good thing is that it has now become a deterrent to any public official that yes…, if you go out of your way to move your pocket forward instead of your country or state, you will be held accountable.

“We in the Niger Delta are very apprehensive. I don’t think that there is any person in the South South who will go and vote for PDP. Even some of them are trying to purchase votes because when you look at the major policy document of the PDP today, they are talking about selling the NNPC.

“What does the NNPC have? Is it the building? What NNPC controls is the oil of the Niger Delta, oil wells, oil fields and all those things come together with the land. I don’t see anybody from the South South or any Niger Deltan, who will agree that the same way we sold out Nigeria Airways and we became a laughing stock in the comity of states in Africa is the same way NNPC should be sold.

“Look at Kenya Airways, Ethopia Airline, Ghana Airline, South African Airways and Nigeria has no single plane now called its own. We sold out our Aluminium Smelter Company in Ikot Abasi, that provided thousands of jobs and today that place is totally bare with over 690MW of electricity.

“We sold out Oku Iboku Paper Mill in Akwa Ibom and our people are there jobless. That massive structure is a waste.

All those things combined are things that frighten us when somebody talks about the sale of NNPC. The sale of NNPC on its own simply means that the Niger Deltans are going to be divested of not just their properties, not just the water that they fish in, but the fact that they will become tenants in their lands for the next 50 to 100 years. And people will come from outside, maybe friends of the government, and possess their land.

“The election also is between integrity and others. The President has shown that he can give what belongs to Niger Delta to Niger Delta. He is even refunding monies that were used during my tenure to repair Federal roads and what we use to call Paris Club refund.

“We tried everything under the PDP. We never had that money and I was a Governor and the FG was owing my state over 145 Billion on federal roads and the building of prisons and other things I had to intervene. I dualized federal roads, built airport and today, federal government is refunding those monies to the state.

“If you see a government that has shown sincerity, it simply means that we are now talking about a question of integrity and a question of postulation. We are postulating that if you bring in a government that will sell your father’s land, that will sell your oil wells and sell the waters that you use in fishing, then I can conclude that there is no alternative to President Buhari.”

We don't listen to thugs. Swerve.

NNPC job slots have never been for the masses. They scammed the masses in 2012/2013. Many people applied and in the end only the rich and connected got the jobs.

Talk about NDDC and the South South will listen.

YOU HEARD?!

Read what Prof. Tam David West had to say about Gen. Buhari, unbelievable.
¤ Buhari is one of the cleanest men I have ever met in my life. If anybody wants me to dislike Buhari, such person should give me an example of his corruption. I will run away from him totally. But right now, there is no evidence. On the contrary, the more they attack him on this issue of corruption, the more they are making him honourable.

¤ I will give two examples:
¤ One, Babangida thought Buhari was making a lot of money on counter trading, so he set up two independent bodies to investigate counter trading.

¤ One of the bodies was headed by J.K. Randle, while the second was headed by Prof. Aboyade of blessed memory. None of them found anything against Buhari. None. I attested before the two bodies.

¤ Great Aboyade commission was digging into Buhari’s counter trading, J.K. Randle, who’s still alive, did the same thing.
¤ But both of them produced reports that showed that counter trading was so clean and was making so much money for Nigeria.

¤ Then two, soon after Obasanjo was sworn in, there was a social function for him in Lagos or so, then surprisingly, some people tried to praise Buhari, Obasanjo said: ‘don’t praise him, I have not probed him.’ It was after that incident that Obasanjo set up Dr. Haroun’s probe panel of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF).
¤ Haroun probed PTF inside out. Buhari was discovered to be as clean as snow.

¤ You know, why he agreed to be the head of PTF was not to condone what Abacha was doing then, but he saw it as a way of serving the country and he did well. I have the record.

¤ Haroun came out and said PTF account was audited every year while Federal Government account was not audited in 36 years.

¤ You know Babangida detained Buhari for 40 months after he overthrew him.
¤ Buhari’s mother died while he was in detention and as a Muslim, I expected Babangida to rise above politics and allow Buhari to go bury his mother. If he was released, I am sure he wouldn’t have run away.
¤ Buhari was not allowed to go bury his mother. But in the night after the woman was buried, Babangida released Buhari.

¤ His son died, the same thing happened.
¤ Anyway, after Buhari came out of detention, he told Babangida to tell the world about his corruption. The records are there.
¤ The same thing happened with the PTF. He told Obasanjo to publish the report of the panel, but Obasanjo could not publish it because it was a certificate of honour for Buhari. If that Haroun’s report had any page in it that indicted Buhari, Obasanjo would have used that to disqualify Buhari from contesting against him.
¤ Buhari is clean. He is not corrupt.

¤ To show how Buhari loves Nigeria, he doesn’t like spending Nigerian money frivolously. When Shehu Shagari’s NPN government was overthrown, as Buhari was assigned to head the Military government of 1983, he never changed any chair or curtain in Dodan Barracks. Buhari used what Shagari was using until his government was also overthrown by IBB and co.

¤ As minister, our total pocket money under Buhari was N200 per month. You could spend less than N200 without accounting for it, but anything above N200, you must account for it.
¤ When he increased the money to N250, we clapped for him at the executive council.

¤ Now, as a former governor of the defunct north-eastern state, former minister of petroleum, former head of state, former executive chairman of PTF, Buhari has no house in Abuja.
¤ If he goes to Abuja, he stays in a private hotel. He has no house either uphill or downhill, apart from his house in Kaduna.

Sane Nigerians, We Need BUHARI by 2019.
PROFESSOR TAM DAVID WEST, Former Nigeria's Petroleum Minister.

It's very unfortunate that you're trying to force someone who embezzled NNPC funds on the Akwa ibom people

Atiku should scrape the NNPC, if it will reduce the likes of Nsima Ekere and fund embezzlers

Sell NNPC for what? To who? All the ones that were sold what good has come from them.

Some Nigerians don't like to think. A known criminal openly told you he will enrich his friends if he is elected. Then he openly told you that he is going to sell the biggest corporation in the country. But still some brainwashed people can't put two and two together to understand that the sale of the country's largest corporation is going to be to his friends just as he has said.

How on earth will the sale of NNPC benefit the common man? How many shares will the so called Atikulators be able to buy? Where do they think the total annual revenue running into billions of dollars will be going to after it is sold? And brainwashed people are still supporting such nonsense

The only 2 things Atiku is after.

1. Sell NNPC and any other national assets to himself and associates.

2. Loot the treasury and make his friends rich.

These are not accusations but fact stated by. Atiku himself.

Bloody Slave.
So Niger Deltans should vote Buhari an ethnic bigot that turned NNPC into a fulani enterprise for the Cabals planting his family members in every department led by ABBA KYARI and BARU with $25 billion already embezzled under the leadership of Buhari, the self appointed minister of petroleum?
Uterly CORRUPT GOVT OF APC rule by northern cabals will of couse use willing southern slave to object what is good for Niger Delta like selling NNPC because that is where northern extremist and terrorists get resources to buy arms for their BOKO HARAM and FULANI HERD MEN foot soldiers.

BTW, Niger Delta Sons and Daughters and their State govts will have the first RIGHT OF PURCHASE for NNPC. This is the best policy that will make NNPC compete favourably with the likes of US CHEVRON AND BRITISH PETROLEUM BP as a PRIVATE ENTERPRISE. This is what is done in civilized countries.
It is FAR BETTER to sell NNPC to Niger Deltans to develop their region with their own God given resources than continue the status quo where people like Buhari use it as Northern family biz to bank roll dubious activities around the country.

The most bastardize oil industry in the world is NNPC

The most corrupt oil sector in the world is NNPC.

The stealing by government officials is second to none anywhere.

The best for NNPC is public-private(shareholders) business run by thirty party a reputable non- government organisation. For check and balance.

The concern for FG should be revenue, and leave experts to run NNPC affair under government supervision.

I read somewhere how Dubai operate their oil section like Public-private driven including the popular Emirate Air. These people mean business.

Whatever other countries are doing and doing it well regarding their oil sector do it here.

Why is that anything to bring change we quickly kick against it?
But we refuse to suggest further except it for selfishness.

The same with the call for restructuring or reforming Nigeria except it serves selfish zone interest but for interest of Nigeria we say No!

Nigeria is not the only country that have oil but they are the most mess up.

Dangote is building refinery watch how his team will strictly manage that refinery and compare then one by government.

What is the benefit of NNPC to Nigeria as it is operated today and in recent times?
