It is no more news that the petrol tankers and other articulated trucks are back on some major expressways and flyovers in Lagos state.

Note that Lagosians got a brief respite about two weeks ago when the Presidential campaign train hit the nation’s commercial capital.

During that brief period, the roads was free-flow of vehicular traffic on those routes. Journey times were cut by half or less, sanity was temporarily restored on these routes.

The menace of parked trailers on expressways and bridges has become a hopeless situation in Lagos. Efforts by the successive Lagos state government to relocate these trucks from the expressways yielded no result.

Several bridges along the way are not spared of their presence and enormous weights. The bridges include Ojuelegba, Abati, Stadium, Ijora, Iganmu, Eko, Carter and Jibowu bridges.

The temporary relocation of the trucks from the expressways and bridges weeks ago got a lot of people wondering why the trucks were not kept where they were relocated to permanently.

Or are the authorities insincere about relocating these trucks?

It's possible because Buhari came to Lagos for two days and the trailers were cleared off those roads.I agree with Jim Agbaje, "it's just sheer wickedness and hypocrisy."

thats what the railway lines will address, let the tankers, pick their containers outside lagos, once dangote refinery is up and running, most of them will stop gathering around ijora and environs

drive them away and there is scarcity of fuel

The menace of parked trailers on expressways and bridges has become a hopeless situation in Lagos. Efforts by the successive Lagos state government to relocate these trucks from the expressways yielded no result.

There's an obvious solution. The issue is the weakness in government enforcing rules. If they reninded them government laws are backed by force they will park cars at rest trailer parks or rest stops.

● Impound them and have drivers pay fine. If they dont pay sell the vehicle.
● repeat offenders should face jail time and companies face stiff fined.
● Move goods by rail.

Are the authorities insincere about relocating these trucks?

because the Nigerian army working around that port area, and NPA officials are making massive income from the long queue. If u have a container/truck on queue, to bypass the queue and drive straight to Apapa port gate without hindrance, u pay the military bastards #70k minimum, maximum #100k per container. If you don't believe me, tfare from anywhere in Lagos to Apapa can't be more than #1k Max, just go there, stand at Ijora Sifax Bus stop, u will see for urself. Big exporters come there to pay and bypass trucks, even dangote sometimes pay #100k for each of his truck to cross. Whenever dangote trucks are crossing, all other trucks standstill.

As I speak, I have a 40 feet container containing dried hibiscus flower at Ijora bus stop, its on queue already, even with my #70k, I can't do "express crossing". because the bastards are asking for #100k

Really Sad I was born in this part of the world

Op, funny question.
It's just evidence of Lagos State and Buhari's Federal governments non-existent commitment to your welfare.
You think they really care? Think again.
Truth is, in late Tupac Amaru Shakur's voice, they don't give a fvck about us!

Somebody is collection revenue from the trailer drivers. If you look closely you will see the toll collectors, who are controlled by one local politician. To tell you the truth its is never going to stop.

The Nigerian government likes profiting off of disfunction. The can easily implement electronic queuing system like they been going on about for years. They could easily start impounding vehicles and fining violators. Their weakness and ineptitude is the issue. Everyone would be better off long term without all the chaos.
