Both commercial and non commercial explosives are used for making IED. That is why it is called improvised. The shit in that truck is over 1 ton. That's enuff to bring down d Niger bridge. Commercial explosives have been used as IED in one of Abuja terrorist attacks

IED's come in different forms, sizes and shape. The main charges in IED can be either military or commercial explosives. Most times, these cartridges are cut into bits and placed inside soda cans or cylinders and they serve as d main charge.
