Between the two major political parties in Nigeria – People’s Democratic Party(PDP) and All Progressives Congress(APC)- there are only 5 female deputy governorship candidates on the ballot come Saturday, 9th March 2019 when the elections will hold in 29 states in Nigeria. They are:

– Barr. Obioma Ezeilo, Enugu State (PDP); current deputy governor of the state

– Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, Kaduna State (APC)

– Barr. Busari Haleemat, Lagos State (PDP)

– Engr. Salako-Oyedele Noimot, Ogun State (APC)

– Dr. Harry-Banigo Ipalibo, Rivers State (PDP); current deputy governor of the state

It is worthy of note that former Minister of Women Affairs Senator Aisha Alhassan will run for governor in Taraba State on the platform of United Democratic Party(UDP).
